but on the other hand if you are going to record something before its gone why not try to salvage it then everyone can look at it in person and not just a photograph...sometimes you only have to ask

You have been offered 20K for it but you wont sell it!!!!

Fair play for you loyalty but it will be a big commitment to keep it and trailer it around the show.

I would take the money as I really think you will never be able to get it registered as a 1275gt

Because I was in the site without permission and it would have been a bit stupid of me to say, excuse me, I have just been wandering around your factory without permission, taking photographs, oh by the way, could I take that mini out of the tunnel?

The Security lost jobs because of their useless patrolling techniques when us explorers were in there in 2007, I would imagine they would have had fun with anyone who they found on site!

Oh, and taking anything without permission, even with good intentions, is theft.

Dont get me wrong i like the fact that people like yourself are recording our soon to be lost history and it was probably your photo that inspired me to save it but ime a bit more proactive and if its going in the bin i will pay to save it ...keep up your good work and i will keep up mine

Well yes, but my point was I wasn't going to ask as I didn't want them to know I was there. And anyway, the thought never even crossed my mind. I go to places to document, not to salvage.

I'll check back to this thread (unless a new one is opened with a dedicated build thread) every now and then and look forward to your progression updates.

I can't believe I just read all 22 pages...simply awesome!

Hats off to you for actually going ahead with it.

People can have the view of leaving the Mini in the tunnel all they want, but if the tunnels are getting destroyed then I think you did the right thing.

When the time comes to restore the MIni I think the best way is to keep as many panels as possible even if it means a hell of a lot of panel beating. (it's those panel which have the history).

In an earlier post somebody mentioned how the owner of the last Mini which left Longbridge is going to be pissed...yes, yes they are. Rover should have had a quick look around before announcing it

Do you have any more pictures? If you can prove the age of the car and perhaps some sort of identification then I think it might, just might be possible to have it registered.

It's time for people to get behind this Mini and start digging around to help find out the true history of it. SOMEBODY MUST KNOW!
