Hello folks,

Im building up my front brakes and cant remember if here was a spring washer under the retaining bolts....
Do the caliper bolts need a spring washer under them?

Im fitting the splash guards for originality and putting a spring washer on the bolts looks wrong against the bracket of the splash guard.

Thanks in advance.

There weren't any on mine when I removed them, that doesn't mean there isn't supposed to be though, as the car was hardly well put together when i got it.

Yes and torque them using a proper torque wrench at 40lbs-ft

They do! a 3/8 locking washer sits under the caliper to swivel hub bolt.
Have a look here, you should find it useful:

All suspension ad brake components should be secured with a locking mechanism be it a spring washer, a nyloc/lock nut or thread lock. I'm sure you understand why.

I've always used a flat washer and Loctite - never had any problems. Not a lover of split spring washers as we never used them on aircraft.

spring/split washers don't really work anyway, there was a big piece about them knocking round a few years ago.

Aircraft always have flat washers and, where applicable, a thread locking fluid. I almost never use a spring washer as I can't see the point. As 'ANON' says, they don't actually do anything and I've even seen them 'open-up' when tightened.
