So is the restoration as poor as they portray in the show or better?

I'm surprised they gave away the car with a gearbox problem O_O

Either way can't complain about receiving a car that looks like that for free.

Obviously it'll be sold. I think they fancy a nice Moke instead.
The gearbox is being looked into by a specialist firm in Weymouth I think.
The resto is ok, but definitely not concours!

How much did the independent valuer on the show say it was worth?

Would be interesting to see how much they get for it.

Update ... the car managed the 37 miles to Weymouth in 1st & 2nd gear (it has only 3, being auto) and the gearbox has been fixed using parts from Ebay. The bill came to £2,500. A letter is being sent to the makers of Classic Car Rescue but without TOO much protest since it's still worth a lot of dosh and came with a year's A Flux insurance. Doesn't need road tax, of course.

Now for sale. Anyone? :errr:

i hope there isnt as much filler in that as the mini they did.

incidentally this month in practical perfromance car magazing they have done a "top ten overpriced cars" they do a top ten every month for different topics. one of the cars they have in the list is the e-type jag, and in some ways i kind of agree with them. another car in the list is a moke!

list is as follows.....

1, aston martin v8, circa bankruptcy period in the 70s.
2, mini moke, its about what you get for your money, not allot really.
3,cortina savage, v6 version of the mk2 onwards 'tina
4, jag e-type
5, lynx xjs eventer, basically an xjs estate, too small to be an estate, but spoils the sports car element, so neither use nor ornament.
6, merc r107 sl, this i can totally understand, i dont know why anyone would pay over 10k for a really boring, merc rag top.
7, caterham 7, why pay so much when you can get a westfield with a better spec for half as much.
8, lotus elan, i do like elans, but as they say a europa is a better drive and a farction of the 40k for a good elan.
9, bmw x1. ?
10, morgans, they basically say just get a 911 lol.

i agree any vw air cooled car is overpriced, but then i am biased, i really dislike them.

I can't believe splitty buses aren't on the list, unless they don't count them as a car. Beetle too, anything over 1p is ridiculously overpriced IMHO.
