ok , i have had the annoying problem of wet front floors since i got my car.... no matter what i did to seal the floors the water kept on coming in , i remember what a mechanic told me years ago when i was an apprentice that water NEVER goes up , it always comes down....
so i decided that the water was not coming through the now sealed floor pans.....
after much looking i found that water was getting in through the upper bulkhead where the sound proofing is.
i got a old rubber seal & clipped it onto the scuttle seam & around the inner wings to the strutt supports , the rest of the seal i cut up & fixed along the front lip of the bonnet to prevent water getting into the plug leads/coil.
anyway im pleased to say that after a couple of very wet days my carpet is still dry :D
so anyone with wet floors , check out to see if a seal is needed along the scuttle lip to make a nice seal onto the bonnet when it's closed :D

I had the same problem on my last mini ... I replaced the dor seals, had a complete new front end rebuild, yet iot still got wet on the drivers floor pan, so thanks for the tip, even though my new mini is dry..it can't do any harm to seal it anyway???

yeah , imagine your car parked facing up hill....
when it rains the water fills up the little chanel on the scuttle & wings & overflows (really easy on a shallow channel on the scuttle) & the water then runs down the bulkhead , through the gromets where the cables go through the bulhead & under the engine steady bracket on the passenger side box section... then your floor pans fill with water !

Is it that surprising that parts that should be fitted as standard but which lots of people loose / remove / don't bother to replace were actually there for a reason in the first place and that without them you find something doesn't work right? Mini's have always been meant to have seals around the bonnet, they keep the water out and the noise in. The design has changed a few times but there should be one on the scuttle gutter (as Sirmarky has fitted), sometimes one on the back edge of the bonnet for the first one to seal against, and one at the front of the bonnet. This is the one that keeps water off the ignition, along with the water shield.

The latest Rover design has the rear edge seal extending some way down the sides as you have done Mark but be careful. Depending on how thick the seal you have fitted actually is you may damage your bonnt. Whenever the factory seal has been extended all the way to the stiffener panels in the past it has resulted in the bonnet getting creased at the front edge of its own stiffener panels as the seal pushes up against it when it's closed forcing it to bend. You will see this on lots of bonnets, usually at the sides.

Well done for fixing your problem but as many people on here point out quite often, if the car is in proper standard condition in the first place a lot of problems go away and it generally performs better.
