why would you want to do that most of the pleasure of driving the mini is the direct feel from hands to wheels the rack makes you feel more like a driver?

Try this link below for details on using the Vauxhall Corsa EPS Column in a Mini

FAQ - Mini Electric Power Steering:
https://www.16vminic...-power-steering

(Despite what some say it is possible to have good 'sporty' power steering with plenty of 'feel' in some modern cars..........for instance read any road test of a new MINI and the direct 'go kart' feel steering is praised for its feedback. Rover designed the original Electro-Hydraulic ps system with the distinctive whine as fitted to all R50/53 Mk1 MINI's and BMW later replaced it with a fully electric ps column for the R56 Mk2 MINI, once the fully electric power steering technology had improved).

I doubt any modern car could be sold without power steering today (or air conditioning) ! :ohno:

I don't see anything wrong with power steering at low speed on a Mini and then turn it off when you get above say 20mph....

Dumbells from ebay are cheaper and ze ladies luvv it! ;D

but there are a few threads on here about people who have done the conversion, its not all that easy and a lot will need to be fabricated yourself but if its what you want then go for it you will have to buy the system and work from there :)

I can think of a few good reasons to have PS, Large power, Large wheels and LSD spring to mind.

I considered it for a long time on my hillclimber, but decided the gains were not worth the extra weight, but If I had to dirve my car for longer distances, race or rally, it would be an advantage.

As I drive a mini everyday, I think it would be a nice addition, but I'm a traditionalist, so stick with the direct connection.

The corsa system is speed sensitive anyway, its still a direct system but is assisted by the motor

Why dont you see if you can have a go at driving the mini with PS to see if you like it?

How is that helpful? If someone wants to fit power steering to their Mini then they can. Perhaps they have a medical condition or just don't want to have achey arms every time they park.
