I thought I's 'just' read part 1 and string it all out over a few evenings, but once started - WOW - that was a really epic adventure for sure. I 'doff my hat to those guys.

Seems there was some movie footage taken on-route for the BBC. Does anyone know if that's available on DVD or the like?

Yes the BBC ran it as a series of filmed TV reports on their 'Nationwide' daily news programme at the time (1980/81) and as it involved Minis I signed up for the regular newsletters to be sent to me by mail (no internet then!). I would expect the film/tv footage is stored in the BBC archives but sadly I am not aware of it being available for anyone to view since the original broadcasts?

The expedition leader Tony Clarke was also planning to put together a video after he returned (see his 1981 letter to me below) but not sure if he ever did. If anyone knows of him or if he is still around it would be worth asking him, last known address in Cornwall below if any TMF members live nearby or can find out?

Great thank you

I've emailed them but the email address isn't responding (returns as no longer exist). Hopefully their phone number works.

Many thanks mab01uk for all that. I'll see what digging about from my end may show up, but don't hold your breath!

And mab01uk, sincere thanks for all these gems you post up here, I love every one of them.
