Unfortunately it seams to be more common to find minis in this condition, I know of one thats worse than this that's currently for sale for 2.2k
That's makes me feel better, but not for person that parts with that amount of money. The thing is with eBay once you've bid your In a legally binding contract, and being a nice person I felt like I had to go trough with the sale. But even though this is a big job I am pleased I've taken it on, I am enjoying it and its a good hobby, win win!!
Looking forward to doing some more on it tomorrow! More pics to come

The only bit thats slowing progress in the way of fitting the new scuttle and front panels, is finding a section of bulkhead that isn't rotten or been hacked at by a chimp with an angle grinder.

I bought it in May. I was to be honest, done good and proper. I was told its wasn't that bad!! I was lied to, but its ok because I've committed to it and the mini will be restored and loved, and another to survive aye!!
It must have been relisted a few times since I went to see it then. Was it a young lad in the Midlands you bought it off? When we went round he couldn't even get the bonnet open. He said he was moving to Spain and didn't want to leave it to rot on the drive with his other cars.

seems like a lot of bodge jobs there glad to see your fixing them tho good luck
Oh yes lol.
The front subframe has also cleaned up well ready for priming and painting, but even that needs working over first. It appears that at some stage the engine in this mini has been rocking so badly, it's ripped both steady brackets off the bulkhead and subframe. Both have been badly rewelded and the subframe one has been welded 10mm out from were it should be. I'd also noticed its cracked on that front corner near the teardrop mount, so both will need rewelding.

Thanks for that, I have edited the photo's.
I am not actually doing the welding, Unfortunately my health doesn't allow it, I have a ILR implant and due to have an ICD which will interfere when welding, don't want unnessarsary shocks to my heart. lol So 1984mini25 is doing the welding. Were working together to get everything else done!
