Although described as gravel tyres and expensive these were far and away the best tyres used on Mini's during this years Historic Monte Carlo Rally when there was a lot of snow. Peter "Miniworld" Barker didn't buy any of these and if you check the results you'll see it was a bad mistake.

The Finns know a bit about snow tyres.

Expensive for Mini tyres maybe, although it must be remembered they are very specialist tyres with only low volume sales which of course increases costs.......but not really that expensive when compared with the prices for a good brand of tyre for many modern cars these days.

There may also be the Dunlop 145R10 Sp44 Weathermaster soon? ( £132 + VAT per tyre)

Considering a grand for some new boots is good on a BM X5, I'd say 400 pound for some specialist racing tyres is good:D.

Interested about the SP44's as well

there were lots of winter and ms tyres on some of the Japanese Mini's I used to bring over, perhaps there are some brands there which may suit.

Just had another look at them....and they are remoulds!!!! I'd have thought for that price they would be proper new tyres

Not taking anything away from them though - they do look an excellent tread pattern, just out of my budget.

Reckon i'll stick to Maxsports until another sub £100 tyre comes along.

Yes they are remoulds but they are E marked. Some of those used this year were on Yokohama carcasses.

if my finaces are still this bad, i think i'll use king-pin KMSG this winter, which are a remould too and non reinforced, but cheap and good for snow..
