Which Turbo

I have a few questions, firstly while i know that these turbo are not garrett and are infact cheaper copies, are they of any use or should they be steered clear of.
Secondly failing finding a good condition 1752, what other turbos are suitable with a similar spec.
I know the smaller gt15 turbos are more readily available but would they be any good on a 1275.
Another one ive seen is the IHI RHF4, still not masses available but a few on ebay.
If anyone can suggest another turbo similar to the 1752 or any where i can find a good condition one i would be greatful.
Thanks.

also many similar threads. Have a search on there.
You need to think about what the car will be used for, the power you want, the lag you can live with, whether you want to build your own manifold or not, etc..

Already thought about this, i plan to build a mirage style manifold so that i dont need to cut the bulkhead.
I was under the impression that the 1752 and t2 had very little lag and thats why they were so well suited to the a series.

It's worth waiting for a GT17, they are very good.

Fair enough, i'll keep searching.
What about the cheaper versions, are they any good or should i only use proper garrett ones.

hi im a turbo remanufacturer. the gt17 and the t2 are both very good. giving very similar results. i wouldnt bother with the cheaper turbos as the bearings in the CHRA and the thrust bearing are made from cheap brass and wear very easily. the t2 or gt17 are a much safer option.
stupid question but isnt the gt17 much more 'efficient'? On my t2 it peaks about about 0.7-1.0 bar with minimal gains on increases during that range. I'm under the impression that the gt17 will warrant far greater gains due to its ability to flow more?

the gt17 is more effient than the t2 at lower down power. the t2 is a great all round turbo it winds up a bit slower but has a bit more top end gains. i preffer the gt17 as the t2 is slighty dated now but is still a good choice for any mini turbo.
I don't agree. The GT17 is far more efficient & will provide useable boost way above that of the standard R5 spec T2. You'll not find any of the boys pushing big numbers running a stock T2, that's for sure.

I totally agree (as long as we are talking the R5 spec. T2). The T2 on my car was very inefficient above 12psi, the GT17 is happy making WAY over 20psi without excessive heat.
Also, the GT17 has a much less restrictive turbine (9 blade rather than 11 blade). In fact, it's the more efficient design of the GT range of turbines that sets them apart.
The T2 (R5 spec) is a great turbo for a daily making 150 bananas, but streached beyond that. The GT17 is still a great daily turbo (all be it with a higher boost theshold than the T2), but will happily make more boost and power.
