6 x 12 SuperLites (in need of some arches :D IMG_04561.jpgIMG_04851.jpg

Do these Superlites require trimming of the front fenders to fit?
Thanks.

Hi yeah as they were 6" Wide so needed arches to fit. Had to trim and bend the fronts the fronts quite a bit. was trial and error until it stopped rubbing. but some arches come with templates  to cut away arches.

I don't get it!
I am about to buy an used set of Superlites 12x6 and the seller told me his car did not need any fender cutting at the front to fit (no rubbing!). stage 2, normal (not wide) arches) Is this possible?
I also talked to another local Mini owner: his 1994 Rover (Japanese specs) has 12x6 Mini OEM and he is stating that he has no rubbing at all (!!). Standard Mini arches...
Why is the rule? Any 12x6 needs trimming of the metal lip on front fender?...

Plase help....

Plase help....

Comes down to the ET/offset...

12x4.5s don't rub even with 165s fitted
12x5s generally don't rub dependant on ET - most clear
12x6s mostly rub (again dependant on ET)

Not sure if by fitting a Sportspack steering rack would solve it entirely but would make your turning circle larger...

Edit: the minis you see may have the modifications already done, failing that the ET of the wheels maybe such that they don't rub. Many complain 12x6 do but equally some say they don't. I personally had 12x5.5 that rubbed so I trimmed some of the wing /front panel away.

Have 5 x 12 Minispares MiniLife on the car.  The wheels sit a bit inside the arches, but hey, it helps keep the body clean...  Not sure if I want to fit 6" wheels to fill the arches better.
