£800 for a race weekend, while appearing expensive, would be do-able, but its the £1200 cost for damage that would put me off, given my lack of experience and increased chance of a prang, and given that there is no claiming from the other person if its their fault on a race track, someone else's mistake could be very costly!

I would love to get involved in racing though.


Dont forget the 1200 is only if the car is a total loss, most shunts are a few hundred quid max, and to be fair this season we have had a new rule that has stopped a lot of the silly accidents, my team mate has only done a few hundred quids wort max 450 and he is now at the front, the insurance is for my piece of mind in case my car is totalled lol, most of the time we don't even think about it.. but if you were to wreck the car its a cheaper alternative for the driver than a 4/5 k new car !!
