I have 2 options open, one is Mighty Minis which is the best class if you have never raced before ? and I also have a Super Mighty Mini both look the same but the Super has about 28 bhp more and they are lighter but , you need at least a season racing before you can drive one.
So assuming your a novice you can race on a restricted RAC MSA licence with a novice cross on the boot, its how all the new drivers start.
I have many ways you could race, one is hire a car from me, that is £800 per race in 2013 that includes the qualifying and the race, the car would be insured against accident damage but you would be liable the excess which is the first £1200 of any claim, its set high like this as all we really want to insure against is total loss of the car if its a big shunt, You would have to enter the car into the meeting and join the BRSCC club as this is all part of the Championship rules.
All fuel and tyres are included and running costs including mechanic and me as a driver coach should you need this, I can do one off races or a better deal for the full Championship.
I can also arrange test days at most UK circuits, you will still need a race licence to do this. the cost of this depends on which circuit and the amount of sessions the car is doing, the starting cost of this is £700 per day this includes tyres, and all ware and tear on the car but again not including insurance excess and the circuit hire costs.
The last option open to you is if you buy or I can build you your own car and I run it for you the cost for this is £250 pre race weekend prep excluding any parts. then £400 per meeting to take the car and run it for you over the race weekend, you would be liable for all entry and running costs over the meetings and you own insurance should you wish to be insured most do not bother as parts are quite cheap and most little shunts only cost a few hundred to fix.
Test days in your own car would be just a pre test prep fee of £250 and a test running cost of £300 per day you being liable for all associated costs, fuel, test fee, consumables, extra.
We are the most professional team in Mighty minis with a truck transporter and because I am sponsored by Bailey caravans a brand new bailey caravan we offer all team drivers 2 fee beds in the caravan at meetings and we have a large race branded awning, 3 mechanics and all spares including spare race motors.
I have raced classic Minis for over 32 years and my cars have always been the best prepared , I have raced in Mini 7, Mini Miglia, and Historic Minis.
I like to think there are no cars as well prepared as mine and as of now we have had 6 meetings and we have had 6 wins my team mate Justin Cooper had never raced anything in his life up until March this year and at the last race at Snetterton he dead heated for 3rd place with fastest lap in a car built and run by me, I have worked closely with him from his very first track day in his car , sharing data and in car videos to get him up to the pace he now has.
In 2013 I expect Justin to be one of the drivers to beat.
If any of this is of interest to you then please feel free to call me to discuss any of the options.

I know you get what you pay for, but cost wise it,s probably out of reach of the average working person,s purse in the present financial climate. But yes, i think a lot of us would just love to hurtle round a track, which can be done in our own minis whatever their spec for a lot less.
6/10 for sales pitch though.......................
If you look at my post constructively its not about whizzing about on a track day its for taking part in a Mini Racing Championship !! without having to have a car or even any knowledge of how to do it.
The cost is not high if you look at buying a car, and all the equipment needed to run it, yes its still a lot but to go motor racing now days is.
I am not trying to compete with track day cars, I am trying to offer a service that will give the chance for people to try out and race a classic Mini, who maybe want to but have no idea how to !
and 6/10 is that all lol

I consider myself to be a decent driver, but never having had any tuition or assessment, I really have no idea. I have a mate who is interested as well. Depending on how that goes, it is something I/we might look into, with me having enough cash after my tour to go halves on something. But the gf has no idea yet hahaha.
