I know a few people who race in the seven darren thomas and julian proctor, the mini sevens are mental little cars. think they struggling with reliability this year.

I think what he means by an old engine is the fact the A series has been around since the 40's and although I am a big fan of it its a pretty pants engine compared to the engines you get in cars these days.
You can spend thousands on a a series engine (which it looks like you have) to try and get it fast but it still won't be as fast as a standard engine in a BMW M3 for example and no where near as reliable thats for sure. Hence why on my road cars I can't be assed in doing what I wanted to do when I was 16 which was some mental supercharged thing. I would rather have a slow mini that is reliable and can be used everyday rather then a fast one that lets me down all the time. I know yours is a race car hence doing it and I see the point with something like this. I like the fact you still keeping the dizzy. The old ways are the best ways as they say.
Cant wait to see this out on track.

oh crap i know that!!! i run historics XD the elan i built has an 1800 engine, makes 180hp but costs around 18k.... duratec 2Ls we run in the caterhams make 300hp and cost 8k less!!! yes this is to spec, i wouldnt have built it if i was going to use it on the road. it would have a different engine in for sure. ive already spent too much money on underpowered engines.. like the clubman engine!
should be firing it up tomorrow!!
