If you're not worried about lateral location, why not carry on the MG theme and hang the rear beam off a couple of quarter elliptic leaf springs?

For that authentic Frogeye Sprite driving experience!

And just for info "radius arm" is just the BMC name on the Mini for a trailing arm. It'll still be in the way of the wheels.

To get the revised suspension geometry and structure right requires a lot of accurate engineering.
On a race car which will run on totally smooth tracks it can be very worthwhile for several reasons, but it's hard to see what advantages, if any, will accrue to a road car with this set up.
Remember that removing the original rear sub-frame reduces the ability of the car to resist a rear-end impact and takes away the re-inforcing under the fuel tank. That's just a personal safety issue really, but on a race car a safety fuel-cell is required, so on a road car with this set-up a different tank might be thought worthwhile.

There was a company doing hugely oversize wheels to fit the mini and I'm struggling to remember who it was. I thought it was mini trailers but I was wrong.
