I like the part where it tells the 'audience' what they have to do.

'remove corroded metal'

I'm sorry but who do they think are watching this, 10 year olds..? >_<

No, you've got it all wrong, it's ten year olds doing it, :D

I must have been watching a different program to everyone else. I thought it was alright, certainty better then the rest of the rubbish on tv like x factor.

Yeah it's staged and factually incorrect, but at least it's a laugh at times.

Really hope they don't do a mini, it'll just be a rust death-trap covered in filler, which they seem to love.

If you watch the programme title sequence you can spot a blue Mini floor which gets a size 10 put through it. :ohno:

Deffinately used two cars this week. Did anyone else notice that the car started off as a late model in Inca Yellow, then when the body is in primer the shuts appear to be Snapdragon. Also the dash changes from a late '70's to mid '70's type!!!!!!! Probably why the "filled" the sunroof this week.

Tonigths episode was the worst one yet, I just couldn't believe my eyes when the rear end fell off, especially with the shortened springs and missing propshaft.

1st prize in this weeks draw is the MGB. Is there any truth in the rumour that 2nd prize is 2 restored cars by these "mechanics"?

Missed it this week but will watch the repeat. The Timeshift programme later on bbc4 was a demonstration of how to make an excellent, factual, entertaining programme about old cars. Great stuff.

Flicked over and watched a few minutes to confirm how bad the show is. It totally exceeded my expectations for total garbage. O_O Judging by the comments on Channel 5s web page, I'll be amazed if there is another series.

Hi

I'd like to comment on the appalling new tv programme euphemistically called Classic Car Rescue on Richard Desmond’s classy C5.

In last night’s edition a non-runner Porsche 911 was trashed, not rescued, by the two wide presenters – used motor trade caricatures.

The late 70s 911 was one of the cleanest, no-nonsense, 911s ever – in my opinion only second in style to the previous first model.

The programme managed to turn the restoration / spares donor car into a disgraceful pig’s (porker’s?) ear of a badly painted cheap looking hot rod.

Nothing was left as original and there was no respect for the purity of the design – dreadful filthy bright orange respray,  cheap interior re-trim, botched electrical repair, wrong spoiler (actually 2.7 911 never had a spoiler – only the Turbo) and, possibly worst of all, the original beautiful cookie cutter rims were painted matt black! Classy!

This poor car wasn’t rescued it was kidnapped and abused!

The emphasis of this rubbish is cost, time and corner cutting and the exercise is completely pointless apart from one tell tale point - an “independent” automotive valuation expert gave the finished car a ludicrous valuation of £21,000.  Clearly this was marketing strategy for the programme’s competition to win the car - using premium rate phone numbers.

Obviously this rubbish is not aimed at viewers with any interest in classic motoring.

Considering all of the comments on here and everywhere else over the web it's been a bit of hit for channel 5! It's in their top 10 shows with more than 1 million viewers each week.

I see the cars are becoming less valuable as the weeks progress. By the time they get to the Mini Cooper the valuations may be realistic.
