OMG I started this can of worms and then end up on the programme. Yep, that's me and my mate Fat Tony at L2B with the knotted hankies on our heads wittering on about a day at the seaside. I'm very, very sorry.

were you the ones with brighton or bust written on the top?

Guilty! Sadly that was the car that was stolen and burnt out a few weeks later. Got another mk1 now so will have to come up with another "notice me" ploy for next year

thats was brilliant you over took us and eeveryone else but we were behind for a while, i have a photo somewhere, we found it a great laugh, then we saw you in the garage like 10 minutes later. That is such a shame, it was a great looking mini, some people just need a good kick in the face.

Me and Simon watched and pretty much laughed at it all the way through, such a set up and ridiculous program :D It concretes my love for Wheeler Dealers really, Mike Brewer is like a god compared to the presenters on that show.

Either way they made a pretty nice looking Mini but I'm skeptical to some of the repairs, and it just goes to show that people still take the cliche 'Mini Cooper with a white roof and bonnet stripes' as the most desirable Mini, and that if you take a Mini which is getting increasingly rarer every year like they did and (Rover) Cooperise it, it'll be worth more than that same car in its original guise. That £5000 was pretty pie in the sky, too.

Guy's i think your missing the point, its purly aimed at entertainment and nothing more, certain scene's are clearly scripted and thats fine as its just entertainment,if you want to see proper restorations go watch crazy mark on one of his " a car, bike plane is born e.t.c"

You all hate it so much however religiously tune in every week to watch the horror's.
Berny was just as gash on chop shop london garage for all those who remember, but highly entertaining none the less

I love Wheeler Dealers, but I wish just once Mike Brewer would stroll in at the exact moment Ed sets fire to a Porsche, or drives an old 4x4 into a crane, and literally rip him to pieces.

I can safely say that I've not watched a single minute of if, the multitude of trailers before the series aired was enough to put me off... and no it's not entertainment, it's a slight on hard working professionals in a very competitive market.

If I want entertainment I watch Strictly, at least it's got more talent in it...

Staged alright and not for the mechanics among us lol. made me laugh when the axle fell out the mgb if you pause it when the axle is on the floor the spring eyes were cut off! now thats staged for the effect, to be honest the previous posted summed it up, its not a programme for car restoration or mechanics to watch stuff being done its just actors cocking stuff up for the effect.

Pretty poor really, I was going to record the Mini one on DVD glad I didn't bother now, mind you I'm sure Bernie and Mario will be on Isopons Christmas list by the amount they got through in the series ?

I feel sorry for who ever wins one of the cars and sees what its like in 6months time ? filler coming off and rust marks a plenty

But hey thats TV for you, I like Mark Evans the TV series where he builds stuff up properly - A Car I s Born Series

I just don't understand who this programme is aimed at. Non car fans wouldn't watch anyway, "entertainment" or not, and it's a total insult to the intelligence of the likes of us.

I worry that someone with no idea of how much work it takes to restore a car will see this tosh and go out and buy a car and think it will be done in a month for 50p. There could be some upset people out there.

Now I've tacked welded my new sills on I've decided I'm going to save time and fully rivet them rather than weld them. Bernie said it'll be ok so thats good enough for me, him being an expert and all that  So do I go with aluminium or stainless rivets? Decisions, decisions....
