Just thought that mine is a new one, with the bulb holder built into the pcb. An earlier smiths rev counter might have a traditional bigger bulb and holder in it?
Which might be better for an Led, just a thought :)

On early minis rev counters were after market fitment like this:

So I'd say be original and make your own :)
For the ultimate retro look i find one of the mgb rev counters will be lovely:

Price reduced, £850...!!! O_O

Apart from looking lovely, does a chronometric tacho have any benefit over a 'normal' one...?

Its not subjected to ignition problems as its run by the crankshaft..
..other than that its just a rev counter.
That is cheap, they can fetch well over 1k squids..
