The housing bit will be at the bottom on the anchor point.. I have tried this and seen to problem in terms of getting it all to fit and work but I am sure there must be something in the MOT manual saying it is wrong, who knows
Cheers for any help

You may have a problem with the fact that the rear bins have been removed, depending on your testers point of view and whether he actually knows they were there originally. The bins strengthen the body near two important component mounting points, the seat belt mounting and the rear subframe front mounting. These are called "prescribed areas" in the MOT. Below is a small extract from the testers manual which deals with this. You should at least get an advisory for removing the bins.
Panel removal or replacement with different materials On a vehicle of integral construction the strength and stiffness of the whole structure may be seriously affected by any panel being removed or replaced by a panel of different material. If it is considered that a modification has significantly reduced the original strength and stiffness of the structure, the tester should fail the vehicle under the appropriate section. If there is doubt about the effect of the modification the tester should pass and advise.

As above, you should be OK using the same mount for the reel and the belt lower mount as many cars did this years ago.

Thanks for the info.

You are right in what you say, but the thing is the bins don't LOOK structural, unless they are really up on it I doubt they would even notice. There are loads at shows with it done and seat base cut out, so I doubt it will be a problem.

I'll leave it as be, and when I put my alfa rear seats in some modifications will be made to make it MORE safe and sound
