You want new oil and filter for the rolling road as the engine does get a bashing. Old oil protects less, new oil gives more hp too!!!
Anyway I've changed the Head Gasket and All seems well again. I went for the expensive 998 over bore performance one from minispares, also fitted new water pump and silicone top hose while it was apart. Will let you know how I get on, Running in is finished now, will do a compression test tomorrow just to check all are about the same and then it's off to the Rolling Road next month for the final mapping and we shall see where this little engine makes it's power and how high it likes to rev too.

Oh no, hope she's ok and doesn't put her off the mini. Wonder what it'll cost to get it back on the road again.

I know what you mean I have A539's on my spitfire and they are great in the dry and the wet. They also wear at a slow rate too. Will be a first thing to do when we find out whats happening.
Current options!!!! I think it will be a rightoff. So buy it back and.......
1. Find a Mini Minus shell......Build up the car into the minus shell.
OR
2.Buy another car needing an engine, interior etc Must be Tax exempt car or a 1974 car because as of april next year 1974 cars become tax exempt. Then swap engine/box and efi over and give it a tart up.
We have the inspection guy coming today so will see what he says. I'll add photo's in a second.

The Front
Starter motor took a shunt but all works ok.
And the alternator, I think the poly quick release mounts took the most of the hit with the three steadies(two gearbox and on normal top).
Flared arches anyone.
Door catches and doesn't latch without a good bit of force so the body tub is not the same shape where it use to be.
More flared arches.
A good ripple here.
Will see what they say and what they value the car at.
