Any news on the rebuild? How's it coming along?
Apologies......only just seen your post.
I'm afraid there has been zero progress due to me being busy with one of my other projects.

"Would that happen to be a lime green one Dave?"
Maybe...... ..............
..........I did try and fit this engine..............
........but I thought it would leave far too much space in the engine bay so I built this one instead..............
Found out numerous things during this rebuild.......
1 - the car has had an accident and has a creased chassis leg.....but it's a rally car so who gives a ****
2 - the original engine in the car isn't the original engine at all and was a VW unit rather than a SEAT one (they are slightly different if you are geeky enough to look). The orange engine is a replacement genuine SEAT one I bought, stripped it and spent ££££ getting it bored and 'stuff'....one of these 'stuff' elements being the cylinder head, and it is a work of art!!!!!!!! The guy who did it does Subaru heads for racing guys in the USA but also happens to know VAG engines inside out too and he is a true master of his craft. He certainly wasn't local, but the skill level is nothing I have seen before and was interesting hearing his views on other apparent 'experts' that are very local to me. Looking forward to getting this car on the rolling road and seeing what I've got to play with.
3 - Kids take up loads of time so you don't get as much done as you used to!!!!!
I can assure you all that once this build is done and back on the road, FrankenBarry will be jump started into life and the build gotten underway ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! To be honest, by now the shell should have made a trip to get it's cage fitted, but I've been lazy and not got round to booking it in or finalising the spec I want.......NOTE TO SELF.......PULL YOUR FINGER OUT!!!!!!!!
One thing i'm not sure of is whether to continue this build thread or stop it here and make FrankenBarry a new build altogether? Any thoughts peeps? Technically it's the same car so is there really any call to start afresh?

That whole motor is a work of art Dave, it's gorgeous! Let us know what the dyno says when you get it up & running.
Surprised it's had a shunt to be honest, we always thought the shell was really good & probably the best part of the car!
Keith
Don't get me wrong, the shell is solid, it's just I've been delving under the skin of the car. There is a little rot in a seam on the O/S sill to wing flange, but currently it's not worrying me and can be dealt with once the engine is back in place and doing what it should be. Everything else about the shell is as it should be and the bay is now looking even better.........................

Not been on the forum for months, too busy with my other toy too (Pug 106 1.3 Rallye stage car). For what it is worth, my opinion is that you should continue to use this thread for the rebuild.

106 Rallye.......one of the cars I always wished i'd owned....great little car. The less is more approach definitely ticks boxes for me and shows how much modern French hatchbacks have lost their way. If you ever want to loan it out to someone, i'll give it a good thrashing for you....in fact, the stages is where I will be heading I think. As much as I love road rallying, being up all night on a Saturday doesn't agree with family life on the sunday.
That is certainly one vote for continuing the thread.
