Great news Dave, what a relief that must be!

PS, if you ever decide you need another rally prepped Clubbie, I know of a red & black one for sale....

The rebuild has started........................
..........................only joking!!!!!
I'm starting to loose faith in Minisport and if they will ever get in touch and arrange the work to start. Loads of emails and phone calls have gone back and forth and still no date set in stone as to when they can start. So i'm starting to get a wee bit twitchy with the car and I want to start making some progress.....it doesn't help when you compete on rallies as a nav (did one last weekend) and know that as a driver in the mini I would have finished well!!!!!
I've started looking into reshelling the car. I know, I know....I said I wanted to save the car and not do that, but it would be much much cheaper if I find the right donor car. Plus, I could do all the work myself and not have to rely on a repairer that doesn't seem to want to do the work.
I appreciate that companies are busy, but when they say they will call you to discuss the work and the call never happens....not even an apology by email..........it does make you think whether the money might be better spent elsewhere.

It would also make me worry that when they did take the car whether they'd meet any deadlines they agreed for work to be done by...
Does it have to go to Minisport Dave? I may be completely wrong here, but I was talking to a guy at the Epynt hillclimb last year who was driving a beautiful Clubbie, & I'm pretty sure he said all the work had been done by Paul Loveridge at his garage...?

Great thread. I just read the first 20 pages, look forward to catching up with the rest later.
Great to see a mini being used properly still - good luck.

No it doesn't have to go there....I've got a cash payout so can take it wherever I want. I was taking it there as they were the ones who originally quoted for me and fought against the insurers who wanted to pay much much less for the damage. So they have been helpful, but it's not getting a bit tiresome that the car is still sat in my garage in the state it is now in.

By the sounds of it Dave you have given Minisport every opportunity to carry out the work in a reasonable time frame. Perhaps it's time to seriously consider reshelling the Mini, then at least you could do the the all/majority of the work yourself and also know it has been done to your high standards.
I really hope something works out quickly as I miss reading the exploits of the 'Clubman'

Cheers Rich.
I'm just starting to get a bit fed up at looking at my car all bent and a potential repairer dragging feet and not contacting me. I appreciate they are busy, but some sort of communication doesn't take much time.
I'm going to look at a 1275 GT next week......we shall see.

I wish you the best of luck! It seems like youre better off doing all the work and reshelling yourself if youve got the time. That way you know its being put together the right way. Show us pics of the GT once you see it!

Dave I haven't kept up with your thread for a while and was totally shocked to see what had happened to poor Barry! Glad that you're on the mend and the insurers have issued you a cash payout.
With regards to Minisport dragging their feet, I would be shopping around for quotes elsewhere. If they take this long to return calls it doesn't look likely they'll be quick rebuilding him. Good luck with it all.

So you know how things are described as 'barn find'.....I think that is code for 'knackered'.
I went to a local farm yesterday as the farmer has passed away and a company are clearing his barns. On the advert was a 'Clubman GT barn find'.....so I thought if it was good enough i'd be tempted to chuck my bent shell away and reshell into this 'find'.
Signed in to the viewing and elbowed my way past all the old farmers who were drooling over hay cutters, farm equipment and quad bikes......to be greeted by this sorry sight......
Safe to say that I looked at this and decided although my car is very bent, it is a dam sight stronger and rot free than this example.......the bidding is already way over what I was prepared to pay so I think I will leave it. It wasn't all there, and I realise earlier 1275GT's are gaining in value, but this was too far gone in my eyes.
There was also this in another barn.............
Not an MG version unfortunately and it was a bit rotten at the base of the A pillar.......I do love a metro though.....even smelt like a metro inside.
I think the farmer was into banger racing or something like that......loads of worn knobbly tyres, pipe bender for making rough roll cages, big old jags in another barn along with welding equipment. Worth going just to have a look round as it was beautiful up in the hills with not a cloud in the sky, but I don't think I'll be bidding on anything any time soon.......time to chase up Minisport and then make a decision as to where else to look if they fail to get my confidence.
