Hi Dave, Not been on the forum for a week or two. So only just seen your news. Absolutely gutted for you and the mini, think I would be in tears if that happened to mine. However, more importantly you survived without major injury, testament to the build quality of the car.

 

In terms of value and insurance, got mine agreed value at £6500 and it only has a bog standard 1275 in it, so that value is largely the shell and paint, so yours has got to be worth a lot more. Plus as Keith says, don't forget the personal injury. OK you aren't going to use the ambulance chasing bar stewards, but you HAVE sustained injury and trauma and these days that has a price on it  which you can ultimately put towards the rebuild.

 

Anyway mate, all the best and I like many will look forward to reading about the rebirth of Barry!

Dave, I know it's OT for here, but how's the engine rebuild on the mean green SEAT machine going? No chance in getting out in it later this year to add some more pots to the display cabinet?!

Ibiza engine is now a priority as I don't have a working car anymore. To be honest I need to get better before attempting an engine build as I would probably forget something the way I currently feel. Pots will continue to appear....but from the 'other' seat.

Mini valuation has come in from the British Mini owners club. Seems to be around what I expected.... Need to get on to the insurance tomorrow and get an update.

Ha ha ha....Yeh, I've got an update....actually more of a statement.... Legal firms are rubbish!! Dragging their feet on getting me any sort of payment from the 3rd parties insurance company. But they are trying to screw my chosen repairer on the cost of putting the car right. Oh, and keep offering me a hire car...which I don't need!!!

Sorry, rant over!

Barry is still sat in my garage looking very sorry for himself.... Sad times.

Rest assured....this is not the end of this build by a long shot!

Nope......this isn't a really exciting update with beautiful photo's of a jigged shell prepped for paint having had hours upon hours of expert fettling.......nope, Barry is still very bent, still sat in my garage, and i'm still yet to have any sort of financial settlement......bummer eh!

3rd parties insurance engineer came round today to cast his eye over the damage.

 

Nice bloke who's got an early Renault 5 Turbo so fingers crossed understands the value of classic cars......we'll see eh!!!????

Luck sees to be on my side (ironic or what!).......Mr. Engineer has granted Barry a stay of execution from the scrap yard in the sky and has authorised a nice fat cheque to be issued to pay for Barry's nose job!!!  PHeeeeeeeeeeewwww!!!!

 

After all the BS from the 'legal team' that was apparently fighting my side of the deal (balls to them!), we finally have turned a corner and actually getting somewhere!!!!

 

Until the cheque appears i shall remain on hold, but once that fat little cheque is in my bank account all hell will break loose for Barry reloaded!!!!!
