Technically it shouldn't matter if the 3rd parties insurer is settling, but it will be much easier if it is.

I suppose the first question needs to be, is that lot all declared on your insurance?
Technically it shouldn't matter if the 3rd parties insurer is settling, but it will be much easier if it is.
Yes mods declared......full specialist competition car insurance.
I will repair or reshell it, just want to know what sort of figure i should accept as a minimum if i had to go out and buy a similar spec car today.

Would the Mini Cooper Register be able to help with a valuation, or even the British Mini Club?
My previous experiences with insurance companies are that they try to screw you over, so get as much back up and info as you can.
I really hope you can repair this car

Thanks for the heads up. I will certainly give them a shout.
This is the first time I've had a proper accident and definitely going in to this claim with my eyes wide open!

Dave, much as I hate them, would it be worth consulting some of those ambulance chasing lawyers, especially as you suffered some injuries, luckily minor. I don't know whether I would in your position, but it would be something I'd certainly give thought to these days....
Keith
Hi Keith
I'm not the sort of person to go with companies like that mate as i hate their values. My insurer is giving my details and injuries to their accident manager's and doing it officially. I'm more bothered about the car than anything else.....even though i do still feel like i've gone a few rounds with Mike Tyson!!!!

Hope your insurance company don't mess you about, I guess it's only at times like this we find out how good they actually are, & whether they live up to the promises they make when they take our money....

Dave,
When we crashed a Cooper 'S' on the Pirelli Classic marathon in one of my 'S's (I was navigating my own car & we hit a truck head on coming down from a mountain pass in N. Italy) the damage was as bad, if not slightly worse than yours.
It went into a jig and had a complete new front end fitted, new sub-frame, new oil cooler, new starter motor, new distributor and new clutch cover & clutch (yes, the actual clutch was broken with a capital F).
When it came back from the bodyshop it was like new, but I insisted in repairing & re-fitting the engine myself and the bodyshop gave me some of their cash to do this as it was included in the cost of the job.
It will all straighten out so don't worry too much. That is what happens on rallies, you just don't expect it on the road.
