^^^ I agree with you guys, I just don't see why a modification that has come before can't be used in a 'newer' category.
The best person to ask these questions to, and keep any email replies is Paul Loveridge as he is the man you can blame for the HRCT site and direct any questions to.....he's a really nice bloke and likes mini's so always worth an email.
As for the actual subframe query.....I don't think anyone has ever got on hand and knees with my car and checked specifics......and I know they don't because a few cars out there are bending the rules slightly!!!!....so in short I bet you'd get away with it.
Scrutineering on these events are really only interested in whether the car is safe (so seats and belts bolted in correctly) and that you've not got anything daft like a K series under the bonnet.
So they might not spot my coil springs...........but having just been to the Stanford Hall mini show (in the mini and know we did not enter the show n shine Dave!) my son is trying to talk me into the R1 conversion and I think even a half blind scrute may spot that one? Methinks my son would also have to donate his part time job earnings
By the way what ignition/distributor are you using? I am still on my old 1275 engine with stage 1 and original distributor and good old points. Would like to go electronic and R1 aside more likely 1380 so don't want to buy something now and then have to re-buy for new engine. Looked on Minispares and now confused!

Rear coilovers they might spot, but then again they might not. To be honest i'd just fit a second hand rear subby and go back to standard.....much stronger (although much heavier also!)
My dizzy......I think if my memory serves me right it's an Aldon Yellow 100AY......would need to double check though. I think it is mentioned somewhere in this thread but I can't for the life of me remember the page number. Will be around the engine build last year though.
Hope this helps.

I'm now a dad!!!! So rally prep might be on hold for a little while!!!!
Austin John Aincham was born at 04:14 (clearly a road rally baby!) and is now home and doing well. Yet to give him the grand tour of the garage and rally cars....but i'm sure he'll make an appearance in a bucket seat for a photo at some point!!!!

Cheers Rich. He was actually on board with us on the ToC back in March that you photographed us on so he's gonna be a rally baby with or without the cool name.
Thanks again for the photoshop tweaking of the colour of the car....will post it on here to get folks opinions.

Brilliant news and great name. What will the next one be called? After all the Mini had a number of manufacturers over the years.
Leyland, Morris, Rover (maybe save that one for the family pet) and British, Motor and company might be a little odd???
Anyway all the best to all 3 of you.
To be honest Morris was on the cards as the grandparents really liked it!!!! Austin has something about it though and was only first mentioned as a slight joke on my part, but all the 'proper' suggestions didn't sound right and Austin kind of just stuck.....so here we are!
Thankyou to everyone for wishing us congratulations. Really is a massive time in our lives and one we will cherish....even when i'm being asked to change a nappy full of really sketchy looking stuff at 3 in the morning!!!!!

Sleepless nights and a hankering to get in the garage and tweak the cars made me remember that i've got some more photo's from the Vale of Clwyd Classic to share.
These are taken by my father and the montage still needs a bit of work but not bad for a quick 'throw together' job. This shows the fist run through the Penbedw test.....
The next sequence are from the second run through across the fields.....really do like the sense of movement in these.

No update as such (not touched the car since the VoCC) but went to the North Wales Rally Forum last night run by Broughton and Bretton MC.....had a superb night and a few famous faces appeared....
Anyone care to guess who this is?????
That's right, none other than World rally champion......
(sorry his eyes are shut!!!)
Also, kiwi Hayden Paddon turned up for a chat............
Turns out Hayden is a fan our our favourite little british car and has one of his own that he is doing a ground up restoration....may well have been a rally car to!
Had a superb night and Howard Davis who was hosting proceedings was hilarious!!!!!!

What a nice name you chose! Just read all 44 pages of this thread over the past few days while on vacation. Love it! The next car I plan on buying is a Clubman to build a little rally car. Right now I just need to get my current mini to start...

Ha ha ...many thanks....not that you are biased in any way with the name eh? To be honest it was chosen by mistake and I only suggested it to my wife as a joke in a way (no offense), but we kept referring to the bump as 'Austin' and it just stuck. Everyone likes the name and he's definitely growing in to it...plus it is a little different - which is always a good thing.
Thankyou for the kind comments about my build.....I sometimes forget that some folks will actually read the rubbish I post, so glad you enjoyed it. Plenty more to come, and I think the car might change a fair bit yet as I want it faster, stronger, and even more competitive.....and maybe even take it in to the stages and do some 'proper' rallying. Of course this will depend on how little Austin takes to spanner spinning and wrenches?
