To be honest that's what I thought FTD meant too but figured I was wrong and an idiot........maybe I was right.......but still an idiot!!!!!!
Well, that makes two of us then!!

Well it certainly is possible to have your road car as a competition car of some sort....just get out there and have a go. Stockport 061 Motor Club are running a road rally in 2 weeks from Buxton....check out their website for details and come and have a look. I'm navigating in a Rover 216 so come and say hi.

But you don't even really need to have a prepped car to do motorsport in a mini.
The grass autotest I did on Monday night could be done in a 100% standard 998 mini.....in fact I would probably do better as the lack of power would make limiting wheel spin easier. I did one a year or so back and the bloke who beat me was using a 998 engined mini estate!!!!
Motorsport can be done on a shoe string with a standard car.....yes you can't go stage rallying, but there are loads of other forms of competition to have a go at.

For the second weekend in succession I've swapped seats and been out navigating on road rallies.
Last weekend was Stockport 061's Altratech road rally which is held in the lanes around where I live. 120 miles of plot and bash motorsport. If your not familiar with plot and bash then please look into it....not the easiest form of rallying by any means!!!! Had brain ache by the end of it! Finished a fairly respectable 4th in class and 25th overall.....not bad for my first go.
This weekend however was a little more successful. For the last 2 years I've competed on the Automark rally as a driver and had very mixed results.....this year I swapped seats!!! The night didn't go without a hitch - after the first section the car was overheated quite badly as the fan fuse kept blowing. This isn't really surprising since the driver had only bought the car that week so had limited shake down time.....so all things considered we did well to even finish.
So to finish 3rd overall and second in class is even better!!!!! Another pot for the trophy cabinet!!!!

Not bad? That's flippin' excellent if you ask me! to be honest, I hate plot & bash - only thing in the world that's ever made me travel sick - probably didn't help that on my first (& only!!) attempt at it I was navving for a mate in his full tarmac stage spec., near on 200 brake RS2000. And he didn't hang around...& neither did my pre-rally burger!!
So to finish 3rd overall and second in class is even better!!!!! Another pot for the trophy cabinet!!!!
And that's even more excellent! 3rd overall is v.impressive! And that's a v.nice Pug too.
Seeing as you're getting so good at this navigating business, sure you don't want to flog us the Ibiza back (or swap it for another rally Clubbie?! )

Considering the work I've done to improve it and the fact I've now got a complete spare front end and it's had 3 top 10 finishes and numerous class wins.......how does £3500 sound?????

Been far to long since I actually did something in the mini.......well, the wait it over peeps.
Last night saw me attend the HRCR's Grass Autotest at Gawsworth hall (might have been a cheeky BBQ'd burger involved too!!!). This year I managed to avoid endless wheelspin and come away with FTD....answers on a postcard to what FTD means.....but it is Fastest Time of the Day in autotest terms.
