Black rocker cover would set it off nicely Dave.....!!

 

That was the plan....Satin black with the tops of the ribs polished alloy.......ooooo...satin black and polished ally.....think i've just had a accident!!!

photo's to come but in the meantime.......it's started!!!!!!!!  Took a bit of head scatching and a day of checking stuff, but this morning with a tweek of the dizzy (which was originally in wrong) the engine fired up and sounds fantastic.......apart from the fan fouling the rad cowl thanks to me not fitting a top bracket and the fan belt squealing away.

 

On the bad side...the gearbox seems to leak!!  might have to send an email!!!

Failed MOT today - but not on anything i've touched (which is a change!)

 

Rear wheel bearing goosed - to be honest you can hear it over the engine!!!

 

Both rear brakes not working  - new cylinders ordered.

 

 

To be fair - could have been far worse considering all the work i've done on the car.

MOT passed.

 

Got 8 days to shake the car down and get it rally ready.

Cheers Keith....just go to sort the mixture and make sure the fluids all stay in the engine. The car as a whole is fully sorted and same as last year, it's just the 'improved' engine which make throw a spanner in the works....gotta be in it to win it though.

I'll do the 'pretty' bits once i know i've got the rally out of the way and know i'm not having to rebuild the engine again.  After all, paint on a rocker cover ain't gonna make the car any faster or more reliable, but time spent tweeking will.
