Sorry Dave ;)
Talking of insurance i had a quote of £275.00 for a motorsport policy regardless of what mods i have done. All they wanted to know was what cc the engine was. I thought is was going to be a lot more expensive. Bonus !!!
Try these guys.....cheaper than £275 with motorsport added on.

Speak to Jayne or David and say Dave with the grey clubman and green Ibiza sent you.....i'm sure they will give you a better price than 275 and they cover most of the road rally peeps.

Quick and boring update.....
Against some very sound and experienced advice, i've shipped my gearbox off to be rebuilt.....not that the advice was to 'not' rebuild it though.
On the plus side, it's being done be someone who comes highly recommended and is very busy (which is always a good sign). My bank account may take a hammering, but I will have peace of mind, and it's having a 4 pin diff fitted (as the standard diff that was in it was about to explode!!!) so should last.....in theory.
I have the engine in bits, and ready to start going through everything.
Also need to strip and rebuild my good head ready for the starring roll.
Interesting update as and when I get time.

Minispares order arrived today so i set about throwing bits at my engine. My delight of opening the package was short lived though as i managed to order the wrong crank thrust washers and when I opened the Con Rod big end pack I was greeted by this......
The one on the left was the first to come out of the packet and is ok apart from a small mark, but the next 2 are taking the miichael somewhat!!!! The ones that came out of the engine are better than that and they won't be going anywhere near the crank!!! Bit gutted as i was hoping to have the engine fully built back up in the next week or so, but with bank holiday weekend getting in the way I think postal service won't be functioning at all at 100%.
That means the wife gets her way and DIY it is for me.......gutted

That's really poor, obviously haven't heard of quality control....

Yeh, a bit gutted as it's setting me back a bit and reckon i'll miss the next rally i was planning to enter, but there are plenty others and summer is coming so hey ho.
In all fairness to Minispares it was a sealed box so they couldn't have known and they are very easy to deal with and i've just got them in the post so fingers crossed will have them next week at some point.
On the rally front....the Ibiza hasn't stretched it's legs in a while.....and i've got some Bilsteins for it!!!!
the next rally i'm competing in is the Leukemia rally down your neck of the woods keith...starts Chepstow race course and i'm navigating again!!!!!

yeh, sorry Dave, I wasn't clear there, I meant QC at the factory, rather than Minispares - I doubt they check all their stock!
Mmmm Bilsteins, Beeza will like those...!! (and talking of gutted, I still feel the same about having sold her!) We finally got round to putting the proceeds toward the trailer, & picked it up yesterday - wasn't far from you I think - PRG in Audlem? Missus isn't happy as it takes up a third of the drive! Phil's hoping to finish the welding on the Clubby this month - we need to get a shift on & get it running then as we've had our entries accepted for the two Epynt hillclimbs in June!
Are you navigating in the Dolly Sprint again?

Audlem ain't far from me at all...you coulda popped in for a brew and had a look at what i've been up to with the Ibiza.
Yup, Dolly Sprint again - this time with a LSD and a few other mods. Fingers crossed the oil pressure guage doesn't leak all over my feet again!!!!

Thus far I have found Minispares really good and whilst can't blame them directly. The quality on those is horrendous!
Hope you get the new ones PDQ
The person who packed them in the Mahle factory in Slovakia is to blame as the outside box was sealed bu tthe inner wrapping was knackered so they rubbed up against each other. Minispares have had them delivered today so I assume i'll be getting replacements after the bank holiday postal shutdown.
Still waiting for my gearbox (was quoted 3 week turnaround 4 1/2 weeks ago!) and my head needs new valve guides so big ends can wait a bit!!!!

Been a few days of highs and lows. Managed to crack on with my Ibiza rally car getting a cam belt in it and a new water pump. Spotted a fair few issues that need resolving before i take the car out on another rally, but it is coming together slowly - gonna be a cracking car when i'm 100% happy though!!!!!!
Then after a bit of chasing, UPS delivered my shipping box (with gearbox inside) back which put a smile on my face as it meant that the engine build could continue....
So, now in a good mood thanks to the return of the gearbox, I got a phonecall from a local engineers saying he managed to crack my engine block pressing the new cam bearings in!!!!!! Luckily (and not known to me at this point) the bloke has a rather strange sense of humour, and was just calling to let me know that the block was ready for collection...another result....things are finally moving in the right direction!!!
BUT......and it's a big BUT.....when i got to the engineers, he was cracking on with my cylinder head (new valve guides and exhaust valves) and had hit a small problem. Seeing as i'd already hit an issue with the new big end bearings being damged (still not got replacements yet - cheers minispares!) I didn't expect to encounter any more problems with my order.....famous last words.
So as a bit of fun, a game of 'spot the difference' is my latest offering to you guys.....please note that these are all the same part number!!!!!!
Answers on a post card to minispares i think!!!!!!!
