Tour of Cheshire 2014.......result.......DNS!!!!!!!!  Gutted

Lost drive close to home on way to start and was going nowhere!!!  Nothing obvious and no loud bangs so fingers crossed its a cheap and simple fix.

Engine out for full investigation.......

That's obviously the result, but what's the cause? The primary gear hasn't seized on the crank has it?
Just can't see why the clutch disc would rip its centre out like that.

Nope...primary is free as a bird and no signs of being seized.  My thoughts are its a cheapo clutch and because the car was sat for a few years before i got hold of it, it may have pre-aged it and thus the failure????  Only a guess though.

Other suggestions welcome as i don't want to put the car back together only to blow something more expensive up!!!!

yeh...was actually pleased to see the clutch in pieces, and not having to delve deeper into the transfer case....although might have decided to put a new cam in it anyway.....why do i never just do simple fixes!!!!

Good evening Dave, I'm glad that theres nothing seriously wrong with your mini.

I have a Fast Road/Rally cam

Power Band 2500-7000 Rpm

Valve Lift    0.32'

Duration     268

Lift at TDC 110

Did not want anything too hairy (not yet anyway ;)

I think something similar would suit you as yours is also a daily, hope this helps.

Mine's not a daily at all....only used for 'recreation' as the insurance doesn't allow commuting in it.  Sounds like the sort of spec i may end up with though.

Sorry Dave ;)

Talking of insurance i had a quote of £275.00 for a motorsport policy regardless of what mods i have done. All they wanted to know was what cc the engine was. I thought is was going to be a lot more expensive. Bonus !!!
