really like that clubman !!!!
Cheers. Not all my own work, but all the motorsport bits added are mine. The car will be returning to its original colour this winter (unless i enter a few cheeky rallies!!!) so then my hard work starts as i will be painting it myself. Also plan a few tweeks and modifications so watch this space as the welder will be the weapon of choice!!!
yeah looks awesome !!! Ohh id personally leave the colour its nice , what you changing it back too ? is that a hit towards a roll cage ?

Colour change as per page 1.....cheers for reading all of this build.....ha ha!!!! Colour is called Aqua....rare and intersting colour. Grey is a bit boring if you ask me....it is nice and old school (and everyone likes it) but its just a bit dull. I do own a lime green Seat Ibiza too so kinda like bright colours.
"Hint towards roll cage".....kind of. It does already have a full cage, but might do some work on the shell to integrate the cage more and stiffen things up. Also want to seam weld the subframes and generally strengthen stuff.
And there is some rust coming through so want to save the shell before things get too bad.

Been a busy weekend. Picked up my ebay wheels and tyres from the wirral. Not brilliant condition but the bloke was an honest seller so not too miffed.....I plan to sell the wheels anyway so should make back most of what I've forked out.
Changed the 'summer' fan for the standard plastic one for the winter......should help keep a bit of temperature in the engine
Checked alternator and fan belt....bit of wear, but should be ok. Its fairly new but will order a new one just in case.
Coolant all drained and flushed. Oil and filter change done. Spotlights back on. Dash and switches all back in after goin on loan to the other rally car.
^^^^ Usual pre rally position for the mini!!!
Exhaust taken off and refitted to ensure it stays put on the rally. Just need a few tweeks and fingers crossed we'll be ready.
Took the wheels off and noticed this.....
....Having had issues before with my Maxsports, i'm kind of worried that this has happened. No impacts, just one daytime historic road rally on mostly smooth surface. Might leave this one off the car for the up coming rally...just in case!!!

That tyre is just weird! I have to admit I've not seen that before! Is it down to really poor sidewall construction?

Not too sure to be honest.....I couldn't believe it when I took it off the car. I'm going to fit it and see what happens when I go up the road...it might centralise itself....might go bang....either way I won't use it on the rally as I can't risk it.
I'm going to send a photo to maxsport and see what they say. Shame i don't have any other choice really as I would like to swap manufacturers.

Would you be able to send me some pictures of how and where your fuel pump is mounted on the rear subframe, and also, how the brake and fuel lines pass through the heel board/round the rear subframe. I'm in the process of rebuilding my 1275GT at the moment and trying to keep road rallies etc open as an option so want to run the lines whilst building the car to save doing the job twice. Would be most grateful if you could!
Regards, H

Although it was a standard road tyre i had that on my old MK111 Cortina in the early 80's. Couldn't understand the wheel wobble i had until i took the wheel off and saw the tyre was physically twisted on the rim. Very bizarre and the garage i took it to said dangerous as well. Mine was quite worn and certainly nowhere near as much tread as your tyre has.

Hi mate, just asked a guy i know and he's said its down to either a genuine defect or the way there stored, with them being stacked up on top of each other sidewall to sidewall the bottom tyre of the pile gets a fair bit of weight on it and when used its usability is weakened (not his exact words but you should get the genral understanding haha)

They haven't been stacked...this is straight off the car.

had a tire off a starlet do the same, the high side wall and hitting a pothole or a curb with a bit of speed will do that! lovely car, nice to see a build that wont ever be a trailer queen!

No he said from factory, they can get piled up and the bottom ones suffer on the side walls from the weight, dont ask me i know nothing of this myself haha but he works at a garage were they do all this stuff so best info i could help with really
