Well done!

What tyres were you using?

Totally agree on the CV boot, the genuine unipart items are infinite times better, the only time i've used a non genuine in my car it lasted only few miles. Genuines are so strong and lasts for ages, you dont want them to crack and split when you're on gravel :/

Tyres are Maxsport RB1 in 145 70 12 and are the only 12" tyre available really.  I could use winter tyres and Yoko seem to have just launched a new winter tyre which does look good, but these Maxsports are ok and cheap.  On gravel they bite in quite well, and the rally version comes in 3 differnt compounds...I use the medium none rally version.

They are great on rough or wet tarmac, just don't seem to get any grip on really smooth tarmac like in carparks....but out in the lanes and if its wet they grip really well!!!!

Ok so next event entered and entry accepted.

Roamerlite Novice rally on October 12th/13th.....first rally we did last year, so revisting to see if we can improve our result.

Not too sure which car i'm using.....at the moment the new car on the block is the intended weapon of choice to give it an outing before the MOT is due!!!!  There should be a mini acting as course car so should at least have some mini pic's to offer.....unless anyone wants to see a lime green Ibiza!

If anyone fancies entering there are places left and you can do it in pretty much a standard car!

Ha ha....too true.  We have entered with the car TBC....but at the moment the green one is winning.  Have got a scatter rally before for a shakedown to make sure everything stays put!

Hi...sorry for delay replying...only just seen someone had posted a question.

At the moment it is NO to A+ blocks for cat 1, 2 and 3. But...they are introducing cat 4 from next year which is up to 1985 (i think) so A+ blocks must be allowed in that category.

In all honesty, I don't see why they won't allow them at some time in the future as 1275 A series blocks must be getting rarer now...but they do come up every now and then. Bought a full 1275 (1293cc tho) A series with box for £130 a couple of years back....keeping this as my spare....just in case!!!!

Did you post the same question on the british rally forum??

No rallying since last time, but have been busy autotesting the mini in my local clubs championship.

Have made a few silly mistakes in all honesty, and since winning the first round my results have got progressively worse....I think pressure to win = heavy right foot, which isn't good for traction or fast times!

Anyway, first year of autotests has been a learning curve and been great fun.  Will definately be trying some 'proper' tarmac autotests and autosolo's in the future.

Below are some photo's from this weekends KDMC event. The last round of the championship was a PCT (Production Car Trial) rather than an Autotest.  All was going brilliantly and at the half time halt I had a healthy lead.  Then someone did a rain dance and my grip levels plummeted.

My scores where terrible during the last few rounds as a diesel Skoda Pickup and a Renault Clio showed me a clean pair of heels (tyres!). I ended up 2nd overall, which is ok, but disapointing considering my earlier form.  Either way, I had a blast and it ain't all about winning is it folks?  honest :shifty:

An Mpi Sportspack did the PCT too, but had really bad overheating issues....any ideas???

So the PCT was the saturday, leaving the sunday for KDMC's annual Gymkhana.

Best way to describe this is a fun event, with loads of different tests.  Some are simple autotest speed runs whereas some need a bit more nerve!  The blindfold test was a bit tricky.  The best one was the potato test!  Drive round a course collecting potatoes from the top of cones....then drive back round the course putting the spuds back....fastest time wins.  There were other accuracy tests too.  All great fun with lunch thrown in too.

Here are some photo's of the weekend.....

Stable mates....my new Ibiza Cupra Sport helped ferry all the camping gear to the field....was actually really good at the trial tests.  My wife getting ready for battle in the mini sporting its new wheels

Not quite an F1 paddock but it was our little pit area for the weekend....with accomodation of sorts!

Beauty of a Mk1 Escort....got a few marks on it off cones by the end of the day!!!

Cheers.  Not all my own work, but all the motorsport bits added are mine.  The car will be returning to its original colour this winter (unless i enter a few cheeky rallies!!!) so then my hard work starts as i will be painting it myself.  Also plan a few tweeks and modifications so watch this space as the welder will be the weapon of choice!!!
