Yes, sorry I was posting from memory last night - always a mistake! I re-read the article later & found I'd got the colours reversed in my head! My eyes see the colour he's painted it as being a light turquoise, Surf Blue I think lacks the green tint (but I like surf blue too!) I googled for the one with the grey roof - are you sure it's not black, as that seems to be a popular combination?? It does look very good, but being awkward I'm not sure if I'd prefer white...!!  But it would save you having your roof resprayed!

That google search also brings up a good looking grey Clubman being driven up the side of a grassy hill...!!  ;D

I guess you've seen this thread on here?;

http://www.theminifo...-of-aqua-minis/

It is a lovely colour. I really must resist the temptation to make plans to get ours resprayed - we need to get it running again first!!

The 'Aqua' thread does show some lovely cars.......aqua clubby with a carbon roof.....mmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!

My real reason for a repaint is to sort out rust. There isn't much, but there are bubbles coming through that are in places that i know can be a real pain if not sorted asap.

The more i look at Aqua cars, the more i like it.  Its a colour that isn't common....and i like that!

Definitely! Ours apparently was originally a metallic blue - you can still see traces of it - before it went the common or garden red! I don't really like the look of the metallic colour that's left, but if the previous owner had sprayed it aqua or surf blue, at least we wouldn't have had to change the V5 which he didn't bother to do! And in attempt to make it less common, the red he used is one from the German RAL colour standard which means we can't just wander into Halfords & get a tin of Tartan Red or similar..!!  O_O

Well at least you can have a look at mine in aqua to make your mind up...that said there are loads of cars out there in that colour so you can already get a flavour for it.  The little bits that are peeking through on my car I LIKE!!!!!!!!

Won't pass???? What dB reading you getting? and at what rev's?

I've never had any trouble with passing noise. Mine aren't ram pipes though....they are MED's short stubby ones with the ITG filter.  I get a noise reading of about 88dB

I'm actually doing a rally this weekend and i know the noise guy so i will ask him (if there ain't a queue) to test my car at a few different rev's to see how loud i can get it!

Havent yet checked with the db meter, but i'm pretty sure its above the 90db mark, might try some different socks, its bloody noisey even at tickover..

Get it checked before you buy anything else.  Find someone with a dB meter and check it properly rather than guessing.  Mine is fairly quiet on tickover though so surprised yours is so noisy

My mate has a MOT station near to my garage so i can check it..now i just need to rebuild the car before :)

yes its the fact it was noisy even at tickover that warried me..

Will check again with the db meter, if too loud then ITG could be a solution

I know the kit ain't cheap, but it is good quality and i'd recommend it.  The filter density will have a huge effect on the noise. The ITG one has three different densities I think.

Good luck with the rebuild though.

Last minute rally prep done....well sort of!!!!......just got to tweek the mixture in the morning and check ride height. (and fill up with fuel)

We're seeded 29th so starting in the middle of the pack for the first time (usually at the back!)....so in theory we'll be tucking into our breakfast a full half hour earlier than usual!!!!

If anyone is in the Ruthin area tomorrow afternoon/evening, we'll be scrutineering from 4pm til around 6 and car 1 leaves for daylight tests @ 19:10 from the Automark garage.

If you are around come and say hello.  Fingers crossed the next update will be a good'un!!!!

Hi there everyone.......it did happen i'm affraid........our first retirement!!!

All started well. Did 3 daytime special tests and felt they went great......compared our time for Test 3 with others and they were all shocked by how much quicker we were...need to check that though.......EDIT - just checked and we were 3rd fasted overall!!!!

SS1 went really well.  Missed a turn to the start so missed out alotted minute!!!!  But we set off well, and made good time catching the car in front on every section.  Tyres felt like they were working well, and offered more grip than i've been used to so helped a great deal!!!!!

Then SS2....started to misfire almost straight away from the start.  Got a couple of miles in and it got so bad that i stopped to check what was up.  Plugs out and they were fine.  Checked fuel....fine.  Then decided to start and try a few more miles....no electricity!!!!!!  Wouldn't turn over.

A couple of speccies bumped us and we made it to a main road, but by then we were OTL and not worth trying to continue.  Then once on the main road the lights went dim and again ran out of electricty.

Got towed to a local village by another retired crew and then called the AA!!!!  Shame face now on!  We're not like most crews...we drive to events and don't trailer the car there, so if we break down it is a pain in the arse!!!!!

AA dude confimed what i'd thought!!!.......Alternater was the culprit!!!!  Band new minispares 70Amp alty......any ideas guys?????

Anyway.....got relayed to a local town, and then as it was getting light, was able to drive home without lights.  Got home a few hours ago but it was a long night!!!!!

Soory it didn't have a happier ending....we woulda stood a good chance too.

Here's a pic of the start venue (little car is very much David and Goliath!) and one of the tests.

That's a shame - but that's rallying!! Must have been especially dissapointing for you both after such a good start, but then that's also really encouraging for your future events! Nice pics again...!!

Cheers Keith.  Gotta take the rough with the smooth........(and there were plenty of rough roads!!!!!!)

We are never going to finish every rally, so i guess better get a RET out of the way sooner rather than later (when i might count!!)

I'm more annoyed that it is a brand new alternator....if it was the old one i would have blamed myself.  A rather stern call to minispares might be made in the morning!
