Brad they are actually standard rover 12" alloys and not your old Minator's....still not used them! I ended up with two sets of the standard rover 12's with good tyres so used them...nothing special and not the best for grip but they are round and hold air and did the job.....next year I shall be rocking these....

The bottom wheel is special edition off of a thirty or RSP just something I noticed :P

Wheel nut holes line up with the spokes, normal ones don't.

Oh right....nothing important then. Will check all the others but if anyone wants them get in touch with an offer, if not then they'll be used for rallying

love the look of this, and using the clear lens indicators as the reverse is a great idea! could possibly use the right hand one as a fog light (as i have a later model and need a fog) may have to steal that idea from you ;D

Cheers Stewart. I stole the idea off a works Mini Clubman (the last of the works mini's) although they were more of a squarer design on that car......so feel free to steal away. Reason i fitted them was i had them lying around (as you do) and didn't like the look of other options and fancied something a bit different to the normal spot light on the back....plus i'm tight with the wallet (honest) and didn't want to buy one!. Also, my boot lid is on its way out thanks to rust so a hole drilled here and there didn't bother me either.

Cheers for the positive feedback on the car...plenty more updates to come as it 'evolves' into my final design....doubt it'll ever be truely finished though. :proud:

ah cool, cant remember ever seeing anything with them on the boot, think i have a good few glass ones lying around at work, have to see them out, im in the same boat empty wallet & slightly damaged boot so wouldnt make much difference if i was drilling it, and i have another kicking about somewhere! Anyway keep up the good work, love the rally based clubbys, and projects like this is great inspiration to keep going with our own projects.

To be honest, the lights i've used aren't normal indicators that you see. They are flatter for a start and have the chrome ring built into the actual lense. Don't think they are lucas either. They came on a car i had years ago (maybe even as reverse lights) and i took them off as i was restoring it, and stashed them away for such 'I'll keep those as they'll come in handy' occasions.

Look out for kit car parts suppliers as they usually come up trumps for lights that are a bit away from the norm.

Been doing a bit more work on the car and finally have the spotlight brackets finished and installed. Have had them made up for a good few months but seeing as I haven't entered an event where spot's are allowed I didn't feel the need to give them the final push.

So with a Welsh night rally on the cards next month, and seeing as welsh love road rallies and spotlights as much as they do rugby, I thought i'd get them sorted.

Made from flat bar and painted black and bolted through the front panel, all thats left is to sort out a means of stabilizing them from the top. Have got some normal lamp steady bars but don't think they'll be much cop and with space tight I'll probably knock up some custom jobbies.

The brackets are designed in such a way that you only need one tool to take them off as the plate that sits under the front panel has the bolts welded to it. That way there is no fiddling around finding bolt heads under a panel, just get a rachet spanner on the top and away you go. Nuts held on with spring washers as always.

Lights are Cibie Oscar + and will have 100W bulbs fitted. So with the superb Phillips headlight bulbs in my old school lights, I should light up most of wales!!!!!

Next up is to wire them in (of course,) once i've researched cable sizes, and then fit the uprated alternator i've had sitting round for longer than I would have liked.

That looks great! I'd like to replace the lamps on ours with Oscars, but as we won't be doing night events my son reckons it's pointless - but they do look good!!

You won't be doing night events?.....we'll see....you'll get the itch. And putting some interior trim in in order to make the car pass scrutineering is easy.....as i said...we'll see. ;D

Looked at doing it that way but the way i'm gonna mount them means a more....'considered' approach. Should be easy enough to knock something up. cheers tho.

Bit different, but i gave a grass autotest a go tonight.  The motorclub i'm in runs a championship over the summer, so figured i'd turn up and have a go.  I must stress, i've never done anything like this before and went to purely show my face and meet some new people.

Embarrassingly I only went and won the whole thing!! and that was with carrying round a heavy roll cage and all the stuff i normally have in the boot. Everyone else took their spares out....i figured i'd leave it in as i wasn't gonna be competative compared to seasoned guys!!!!.....ooops!

I was gutted when they announced the first novice and it wasn't me...i figured that was the only one i was in the running for. Also i never check the results on any event we have done prior to the prize giving and we have won something everytime so might need to keep that going as a good luck thing!

here is a bad photo....poor light and a small camera are to blame...honest!

And my Fastest Time of the Day award....kinda overall event winner award....with club logo stuck upside down!!!!!
