I've relised I've not got a fly wheel which is worth putting on this engine, so I've just ordered one from med as a complete setup, so should be able to get the engine in place next week although not sure how I'm gonna do it as I don't have an engine crane, but I'm getting there

drop the subframe and man handle the engine onto it, then drop the car onto the subframe.

This works surprisingly well. I wrapped the engine and any panels likely to get hit in old sheets/duvets for some protection. Worked really well!

haha you shiould have mentioned the tractor! no need for an engine lift when you have one of them! you have a full on car lift there!

Yeah I suppose the tractor is a whole car lifter but they hydraulic forks have a mind of there own, they could do with a re build as the seals have gone In them so I'm not sure I want to use it

I just picked it up while my dad put axel stands under it, it doesn't weigh that much, and yeah subframes we're complete

yeah the fron end isn't that heavy to be honest. you could lift it on your own while someone puts the stands under. or just do it your self with a jack!
make sure the rear end is held still some how... such as hand brake or chocks. or both!
the subframe can be fully built up if you want yeah, then it can just roll into place. and then lower the shell back over it. as mentioned before, pad the obtrusive parts with something soft so when they scrap/bang against the new paint, it wont damage it.
and get them seals sorted for the next project!!! could even hire it out haha
