Why they keep releasing weird designs instead of producing the rocketman?
Now lets walk away from motor heritage for a moment, a car called 'Mini' should be little and not as big as a renault megane or a cherokee, thats just logic..

A Maxi is smaller than the regular BMW Mini!
Its quite annoying that they're continuing to rape the brand, but it's making a lot of money and jobs for this country, so I suppose we should accept it. Why bother explaining to someone that their car "isn't a proper Cooper S, when they almost certainly couldn't give a crap.

People do not view the modern Mini in the same way as the Classic Mini, so I think we should stop all the nonsense about "Bini bashing".

I do wish they'd stop putting the 'Mini' badge on brutishly ugly cars though.

People who cant afford or dont want an evoque will buy this :P is this like a 3 door countryman

Edit: not Bini bashing
I actually like the very first MINI :P

Don't understand the "Bini Bashing"

I own a classic Mini and have been in several bini's.

The first was an early model 52 plate cooper, and it was lovely.

The second is a 56 plate cooper s JCW. Which again is lovely but more cramped and a bumpier ride.

Me and dad test drove the country man and in that class of cars, along with the B-class mercedes - the Lexus ls200 and the 1-series all similar sized cars - The Mini is by far the best, not only is it cheaper than the competition, leg room was better in the rear, boot space was better and its the only one with a 4x4 option.

IMO they're great cars. But so are classic mini's/

To be fair,th John copper works badge is completely fine, he was involved in the designing of the new mini ( written article in mini world magazine) and the jCW minis are much faster and sportier than the standard. As said above, the ride is bumper ie. updated suspension!

I have no problem with the normal new minis, I just hate every single other type, the clubman, that panel van, the rocket man...

I would be more inclined to like the clubman, if a) it wasnt called a clubman - because well the clubman had a different front end. call it an estate or a traveller.

And I don't like the ******* up side doors.

It should be remembered that the USA is now the biggest market for MINI export sales, ahead of even the UK home market…….and the MINI Countryman is a top seller there, no doubt the MINI Paceman will gain similar sales and the normal MINI 3 door hatch still sells well in the USA and worldwide despite all the other variants.......a bit like the peak of classic Mini production when there were many variants in the Mini range available for customers:

MINI USA Sales up a Shocking 84% for August!
“MINI USA reported the best August ever with sales of 5,718 automobiles, an increase of 83.9 percent from the 3,109 sold in August, 2011. What’s driving this increase? The volume leaders are (as expected) the R56 hardtop and the R60 Countryman. In fact the Countryman broke the 2,000 unit barrier for a month in August which would have normally surpassed hardtop sales if it wasn’t for an almost 50% increase of sales for MINI’s stalwart model.”
More Details:
http://www.motoringf...-84-for-august/

And of course a replacement Mk3 MINI is under development as both a 3 and 5 door hatch later next year:

Posted Image

"The 2014 F56 hatch is the first of the next generation MINIs and a precursor to replacements for all future MINIs. While it signals a shift away from unique MINI underpinnings and technology (most of the F56′s underlining structure, engines and electronics will be shared with a new line of front wheel drive BMWs) it also could usher new technology, performance and efficiency never dreamt of in a small car. In some respects one could even look at these changes and be forgiven in thinking the next generation MINI is about to get a little more “Mini” like."

Don't like that but I don't mind the countryman for some reason.

Legendary Mini Rally Driver Paddy Hopkirk also likes his MINI Countryman, note the personal numberplate!

I just realized. The MINI might seem big to you guys, but it's still pretty small here in North America with everyone in SUVs. Maybe that explains the higher Countryman sales here.

Nope, the size of small cars here has increased and other than the now micro-cars such as the toyota IQ the mini is a small car, the countryman is big for a mini but when you put in the class is in It's actually not that big :)

Dislike all things Bini. They don't even drive like the real thing.

Oh because you'd really expect them to 60 years in the future with modern suspension, steering and brakes...!

You would expect with all the research and development in this day and age that a big company could build a car that claims to be a mini hold some of the original charm. This is just my opinion.

The bmw mini has been in production for 12 years now.
Can we not grow up and face the fact its here and a popular car. Some of you don't like the styling which is fine, but as many of you like to point out to new members, this is a classic mini site for classic mini's so why keep bringing the new bmw mini up?

It's not a classic mini only site - and BMW mini owners are/should be welcome here. The fact is though that Bini owners are better off looking at the Mini2 forums as there is much less knowledge of the new mini here - thats why when they sign up they are told to look there.

I think that new Bini models are worthy of discussion here!. After all - they are a relation to the Mini.

Personally I quite like the Bini, but I wouldn't own one - I personally think they are more for girls.

As for the paceman... Lazy BMW - just get the rocket man done

Its nice to see that BMW are now investing in designers which happen to be blind.

Cause the back looks like this:

And the front looks like this

I do like the look of the older minis, but this one is definately its fat, short and ugly cousin.

There is no fixed definition of what a Classic Car is in this country, but the HM Revenue & Customs define a Classic Car as being over 15 years old and having a value in excess of £15,000

In which case not many of us actually own one!!!!
