I've taken the pipe from cylinder head to the top of radiator, pipe from thermostat to bottom. Same as the rovers design

Yep, top radiator hose to the cylinder head, bottom radiator hose to the metal pipe that goes across the gearbox, and to the thermostat housing at the back of the engine.

Make sure the top of radiator is lower than the expansion tank MAX point! :highfive:

I used the standard Mini radiator, mounted backwards. Bottom hose has a 180 degree bend pipe from the front of a Rover 400 and top pipe is from the Rover 200 I had for my donor car.

Use a cap without a spring so that coolant can return to the tank, and pipe it up as it was in the original car (or copy mine). :highfive:

It works well but I still need to fit a fan. I've done 2000 miles without one though and it's never got hot. Not even when it leaked at MITP.

is that top pipe on the expansion going to the inlet manifold and where have you piped your heater in to the system?

There is a small pipe from the inlet manifold to expansion tank, so yes to that. The heater take off is lower down the back of the engine block.

It is tight but you want the biggest radiator you can for the job.

I made brackets from 15mm x 3mm steel bar and twisted and shaped it to make it fit.

A few people use the Mini MPi radiator but it's much smaller. Easier to fit, but maybe only just up to the job.
