Sandblast your nuts then paint your nuts, do your nuts up tight with a bit of tissue in your socket to prevent chipping.

Powdercoat them instead for a more durable finish that will stand the ttest of time.  Must get round to coating mine now that I have all the gear in the garage....

I ran alloy nuts on my Subaru for years without any issues! thats nut a justification, but as they call them "tuner lugs" and loads of people use them they must be of a quite high standard/quality.

Ref the Mini thread/size, I'm looking into this at the moment, I've found a company that sell them in Blue, Chrome, Green, Dark Green, Black, Matte Black, Nickel, Orange, Pink, Grey, Purple, Red, Titanium and Gold.

I will update here once I get prices and delivery costs etc; the website is rather rubbish!

If we get a bit of interest I'll see if they'll do discount if we buy a few sets, Group buy anybody?

Any more info on this??

This is an old thread, but to keep you updated and as you asked... They never got back to me with any prices so I ended up buying a set (for show purposes only) of ATV lug nuts from the states; these are Mini fitment and come in various colours, styles and lengths. An ebay search will find them easily enough.

Stainless nuts, like ali, are positively unsafe and Minispares should not be selling them for road use. A2 grade is far weaker than the standard material and A4 grade has poor fatigue properties. Neither meets the fundamental safety requirement that when over tightened the stud must snap before the nut thread strips, so that clear warning of failure is given. The nut must ALWAYS be stronger than the bolt or stud for that to apply. Otherwise you could be driving around with nuts (anywhere on the car) that are right on the verge of failure with no way of knowing. In all areas of engineering it is a cause of accidents, some serious.

The studs are presumably grade 8.8 or even 10.9 and no ali or stainless is a suitable match for these.
