Does anyone have any information on SMC Rover, Slough? My Mini originally came from there, and I am looking into getting the original window sticker re-produced as it did not come with the car.
Google advises they're still trading. Email them, if you're lucky they've still got some of their old stuff knocking about (dealer stickers, brochures etc.)
I notice that the Union flag in front of those Jags was the wrong way round. BL really couldn't get anything right!

My old friend and rally buddy Peter Silva had his BLMC dealership taken away in 1977. He then took a Mitsubishi dealership and they were so supportive. I recall helping him at an open-evening when I did the test and demo driving in a Mitsubishi Coupe and frightened the punters by driving around Burnham Beeches in the dark very quickly. So he went from selling a load of junk to selling a quality produced car range.
BLMC were their own worst enemy really.
After being heavily into Minis until 1966, when I wanted a new road car to replace my 998 Cooper I bought a new 1966 Cortina GT. It was just so much better and no more expensive than a Cooper 'S' 1275. It was more reliable and had a better cruising speed too.
What are you doing here then?
..but seriously, I've seen you make similar posts a few times. What is it about minis that keeps you 'one of us' ?
I suppose it's because I had one, well a couple really, when I was young and single in the fun days of the 60's. I've been around them ever since 1961 and have owned so many I've lost count. I enjoy the engineering challenge of running them and all that they represented in my chosen sport of rallying. I always enjoyed rallying in them too.
When historic rallying started in the 80's I had a just restored a Cooper 'S' so I prepared it properly and then used it in rallying again. My son got into Minis too, then my grandson. I currently have 3 of them and my grandson has one as well.
However, by the mid-60's for longer journeys on business they really were not suitable and the Ford Cortina was much more practical. But I've rarely been without a Mini in the family ever.

Harry Nash in Chiswick,
Thank you both for the replies. I did manage to find out that they're still trading, but I doubt they'll still have any stickers, surely? Might be worth a try though.SMC Rover in Slough is now SMC Ford!!!!!!!

Found this one as well
Picked this flyer up from Himley Hall back in '91 when Birmingham Mini Owners Club did the show there, (pre British Mini Club). Funny what you keep, eh?
