Hi All
My name is Graham i live in Poole Dorset and i have just bought a 1991 Rover Mini Cooper Mainstream in Flame Red with a white roof and bonnet stripes, it was an itch that i had to scratch as i am now 48 and owned my last mini when i was 18 back in 1982, that one was a 1963 Morris Mini-Minor WPR 734B. It was originally a spruce green super deluxe but being just another old mini at the time it was sprayed metallic mauve with flared wheelarches, black wheels, wolseley hornet instrument nacelle in walnut, deseamed front bumper, bucket seats etc etc. I hasten to add i shall be leaving this one more or less as Rover intended but as soon as i took it out for a test drive i knew i just had to buy it and all the memories came flooding back of my old MK1 WPR 734B.Sorry about the size of the photos haven't got a clue how to make them smaller, ps i have changed the rear lights back to original and shall be changing the tyres from the mix and match set of 145/70/12 over to 165/60/12 Yokohamas, it also has a nice centre exit exhaust that sounds quite fruity i love the noise it makes so i should have said other than the flared arches centre exit exhaust and yokohamas she will be as rover intended lol

Welcome. That is a very nice car. It's good to see another mainstream alive and well and in good condition. They seem to be an endangered species. My almost contemporary RSP spent nearly all of its life in Poole. I think carb Coopers are really worth looking after.
I hope you register it with the Mini Cooper Register. You do not have to join to do so but they may try and persuade you.

Thanks for the welcome guys, been doing a little tinkering with my Mainstream as already said i have returned the rear lights back to original, also installed a new distributor cap, leads and rotor arm. Bought a monsoon car cover for it which seems to keep it bone dry. Dropped it of at Dorchester Mini centre yesterday to have the gear selector oil seal done and a flat spot at between 1200 and 1500 RPM sorted, runs lovely above these revs but a little rough at 12/1500 rpm
