Hi,

How can I remove the clear lens from the black holder ?

I need that black holder to keep the indicator bulb in place, want to go for a more old school look. I think it's glued or something and you can't buy it seperate ?

yes but they are only for holding the lens with holder in place to the body of the mini. The black holder and the lens seem to be glued together ?

Thinking they must come apart to change the bulb.

Yes the lens should separate from the holder. I bet someone has glued it to stop water getting in

According to Tom of Minisport you buy the plugged ones for MPI as a set, the older ones are just wired directly. The lens is connected with the black holder through a clip he says that can't be removed, I don't want to change the plug and get the older wired ones so I was thinking :

A) just smashing the cristal clear lens (you can buy them by the dozen) and glue the oranje one to the black holder (which is the exact same fit by the way).
B) paint the clear ones which a orange light spray but then again that won't last very long I think.

should I smash it / force it to detach ?

ps : I have a late 2000 mpi by the way.

Try R1minimagic on here, he breaks a lot of MPi car, so may have the lenses you need.

Or, as people usually want to swap the other way you might be able to do a deal with someone, unless you want to hang on to the originals.

I took a risk and it looks beautiful :D ! Had to use some brutal force to get the original white plastic ones of but I'm glad with the result. Glued them for extra safety and water resistance. Now I have retro indicators with the plug system of the mpi !
