Just called up Aviva to double check they accepted the no claims letter thing from Footman James, as I have seen people here going from FJ to Aviva without problems, because they DO accept the letter, and my friend with a mini recently did this and they DID accept his letter, only to be told they don't accept any No Claims earned on a classic policy because "classic cars aren't used much so aren't elligible" or some horse ****. I told them about my friend and all the people on here having no problems with theirs, and she just said "That's strange as we've never accepted the NC discount".
Are these people uneducated or have I just called up a different Aviva to everyone else?

Classic Car policies do not earn any NCB. They have always been like this. Perhaps your friends where insured with FJ on Non-Classic Policies.

Yeah I know they've never earned NCB, but I was under the impression that Aviva took it as proof that you'd had no claims and gave you the NCB. My friends were on classic policies, just the same as mine which is why I'm confused.

I'm one of those people who also had Classic Car insurance with FJ. I asked them to write out a letter confirming that I have made no claims in the last year and I sent it off to Aviva. They didn't accept it first but after a few words with the person in charge of the NCD department, They accepted it. I think you just need to speak to the right person.

Yeah I got FJ to send me a letter because I thought it would come in useful and I'd heard Aviva accepted it. Did you just ask to speak to the supervisor or something?
Also if you don't mind me asking how long ago was this?

This was around March I can't exactly remember.
Also I just asked to speak to someone in charge of NCD. You have to remember that you can't let your guard down and be a be a bit firm with them. Not saying to go aggressive with them ;P

I done exactly this at the beginning of the year. Asked them to confirm that they would accept the letter when getting a quote. Around a week into being insured with them the letter from FJ arrived, sent it too Aviva and another week went by before receiving a letter back saying they'd accepted it. Was actually pretty straight forward!
