Hello, heres some pictures of my recent front speakers install. In all it cost less than £10 to put it all in! What do you guys think?

Looks neat enough there, fella. Very clean.

For better listening pleasure, can you adjust the pods to point the mids at a point roughly between the headrests? Tweeters too.

Although any grasshoppers driving your car will love it!

For £10 it does the job. As said above cutting them to aim up may improve sound. Also did you use and sound deadening to add mass to the door enclosures?

Adding stuff like flashing tape will add mass, stop any vibrations being transferred from the speakers at louder levels plus it will improve the sound being a more solid enclosure. Proper sound deadening like silent coat would be better but more expensive. So I'd prlly just stick with the flashing tape.

Also speaker wadding would be good to put in the enclosure, it will make it act like a slightly bigger enclosure so you may get better volume out of the speakers.

Hello! they are just cake tins, i think i bought them from wilko? Then the lid is screwed into the holes where the door pocket used to be attached too!

I thought best was pointing the drivers side tweeter to the passenger, and the passenger side one to the driver.. that's what I've always found sounds most balanced to me.

For absolute optimum image then yes the focal point should be dead centre but slightly forward of the listeners ears, which is where the headrest aiming comes in. But in daily use scenario a few degrees off makes little difference compared to the myriad of other effects on the audio.

If you're a predominantly solo driver then you would actually benefit from moving the centre point to where your nose is when driving, for the best listening pleasure.

But then you would want to consider the relative stage heights also, so it's really a semantic argument - "point the speakers roughly towards your ears" is sufficient to improve the quality substantially from them aimed at your feet without getting overly complicated :)

to be honest, point the tweeters to where YOU think it sounds best. Speaker positioning is all subjective to a degree, if it sounds good to you then keep it like that.

 

I was reading a project thread over on TalkAudio, one chap said his particular tweeters sounded best pointing directly at each other. Albeit this was not a mini but still its all down to preference once you have some good kit.

How have you made the baffle? It's possibly the most important thing to think about when installing mids.

Not too shabby, better than my first attempt at installing speakers in a Mini.
