sounds like i got a bargain then...  My smooth-roof '62 van was £1,500 about 2 years ago with a years MOT

Wow, my '60 was £2k at the same time with a lot of work needed!

Around the same time though, it wasn't uncommon to see tatty non-MOT'd Vans going for £3k.

I didn't realise that these are so rare.I always though that there must be plenty of them still left in the UK.Maybe i restore it in the future.Until that i just drive it and enjoy. :)

Most worked to death by original company ownership, seen as a disposable item when current as most commercial vehicles are. Scarcity the driving factor for the high prices for good ones today!

I've been done lot of research and couldn't find any more information about 1960 vans. Are these (9?)cars really only "known" survivors? Is there any other LHD van left?

I see one on eBay a year or so ago. Think it was about 35k, bright orange- restored. The guy claimed it was the first van ever off the production line- but that's all I can remember about it!

Mini Van production officially ended in May 1983. However, production continued well into 1984 to complete outstanding orders that had been placed by The Police, Gas, Water and Electricity Utility companies. This explains why there are a number of A registered (1983/1984) vans.

Hi guy's,

For some time now I keep a record of the minivans in Belgium. Found this '61 Austin 850 for sale in the netherlands and it's the oldest known minivan originaly delivered in Belgium. Interesting detail is number 174727 is still around in Belgium and it's first registration is exactly 1 month later. Have to check it properly but there's a chance both are sold in the same garage.

I have what is believed to be the oldest Austin 7 Mini Van in its original shell with a build date of 14th June 1960! I know there is another Austin that is 2 weeks older but was reshelled into a 1961 shell. I'm aware of the oldest van but that is a Morris.
