the dash is usually held on by wing nuts and brackets at the back, one either side and one between the dials and hu slot.
the dash requires cutting to accomodate the 4" speakers as the vent holes are not 4".
the vents are usually left open behind or you can blank them off.
best bet. take the dash off have a poke around and see what you can do.
personally tho I would make some pods to hang under the dash rail.

So what do people do with the large tubes that provide air flow too the vents ? Also these wings nuts are they in behind the dash or on the outside ?

Dash fixing depends on wether your dash is factory or aftermarket. If it's aftermarket then it will have a bracket at each side near the air vents and one on thedrivers side of the glovebox, held on by 2 wing nuts each. If it's factory it should have a plastic glovebox fitted, thisone is held in place with 2 brackets which are screwed to the back of the dash, then are bolted through the back of the lower dash rail near the fire wall. In my build my 4" speakers fitted straight in the air vent holes and i blanked the holes in the body of the car off with plate

If you're blanking your air vents, then you may aswell pull out the passenger side tube that feeds it. The driver side also feeds your heater so you may want to keep that in place.
What kind of dash do you currently have? That will help identify where you need to look for the fixings.
