+2 for mole grips.
I also found a little heat helps get things moving too.
Changed mine yesterday but im probably going to have to reset everything again as the wheel doesnt turn evenly from side to side, ie lock to lock is 2.7 turns and its 1.5 turns one way and a little over 1 the otherway so i think one end needs screwing in further and the other out a bit and the steering wheel reset, right?

mattbeddow,

Please read the Haynes manual! It is very important that the rack is centred, using a 6mm rod in the centering hole, before setting the tracking and the steering wheel. Otherwise, you will have bump steer, and damaging and potentially dangerous excessive deflection of the CV joints when steering in one direction. Don't go anywhere near full lock, on the side which requires more turns, or the CV may spit its balls out under load, or jam at an angle and break something.

Cheers
Its off the road at the moment and hasnt been driven for well over 5 years so everything should be ok in the end.
Ill give it a shot tomorrow

Got it all sorted in the end as had a bit of a problem with the new track rod ends.

The new ones I got were the extra long versions for 13" wheels (I have 12") so they couldn't track it so had to get normal ones and get them fitted.

To get the seized locking nut I used 2 hammers and bashed them together on opposite sides of the locking nut and it free'd itself lol.

And the track rod end I could get off just needed a massive smash with the hammer haha

Just incase people want to use this thread for their own help :-)
