That's some mighty fine welding (or flap wheeling ;D ) there Mr. D!

Although I have to say from the angle of the photo, you might need a bit of Kurust on that s/f strengthener mount.

I'm still sulking about Ogy, not sure what I'm going to do yet.

Cheers mate hope you had a good birthday!!

Haha I have new ones once the arches go in

I'd get a donor in the short term get the stripple gone and get on with fixing or fasting him lol

Another productive day in the cave today got the other side straightened out and welded then dressed down a little too heavy this time on the grinder it slipped a couple of times so small amount of filler work on this side pictures as always

null_zps01f3cfb9.jpg

And the main part is it looks like it should and the lights fit perfect sealing perfectly around the curve of the rear panel so well pleased

null_zps8605dfb6.jpg

I then set about starting the lower part and bumper lip so started by chopping more off

null_zpsf71657d4.jpg

And then trimmed back to the boot lip and light housing to give a good weld on a curve which I find easy make good so the best chance of making it a nice blend

That's all for today more tomorrow and Friday

Cheers for looking Darren

Back end on and done by the weekend then, shouldn't a walk in the park for you! ;-)

Then you can get on with the fun bit. (Which hopefully will give me incentive to pick a direction to go with mine as I'm getting a headache trying to decide)

Very fine work there.

Following on from yesterday's progress report!!!

I cut out a piece of steel 4" wide and half the length of the rear panel. I did half as my remaining roof steel was not long enough lol then bent a 1" lip in the work bench and marked and trimmed to fit the hole I made

null_zps7165f9a5.jpg

Then welded it all in

null_zps409c9bb5.jpg

null_zpsb32d7b32.jpg

And as you can see it still follows the panel curve but the side is not so good and will need shaping so it will meet the valance

null_zps308e30ee.jpg

I didn't have time to grind it down so just did a small section to show you all how it will look

null_zps0eca95c5.jpg

Should get the other side in tomorrow but for now that's all I have cheers. Darren

Nice neat finish. What are you using to grind back the weld?

Cheers I'm using a flap disc just very gently and 80g sand paper by hand to fine tune the curve

I keep grinding away the surrounding sheet metal; I guess I need to take more time.

I find its more in the prep making the panels as flush as possible then grind medium until the weld is almost flush then just tickle the weld with the flap disc also you should always grind along the length if the weld not over it using the edge of a disc to ensure precise grinding normaly when I've got the weld almost invisible I buss over the whole area to blend then finish with the paper

Another small update not much but it's progress just ground down the welded section again turned out pretty good there is a couple of ripples that the 80g couldn't remove but mostly a no filler repair

null_zps253a267d.jpg

null_zps170ef864.jpg

Very pleased with the curve on the corner and light housing just the other side to go

null_zps2c83ac65.jpg

Getting the garage cleaned out today so might not make any actual progress

Cheers Darren

Looks outstanding dude!

Be careful not to get too obsessed with the details (yeah, yeah, pot / kettle) while there's a beast of an engine to get working on :D

Also, I'm so impressed with your work that I don't think I'd mind you helping me chop Ogy to bits when the time comes. :gimme:

Enjoy that hard graft in the garage, lifting and carrying today. I hear it's only going to be about 27º

Fantastic work,  your welding is excellent, so much neater than mine ever was and the grinding back makes an invisible repair.  Well done..  Are you just seam sealing on the inside or doing some tacks in there too ??

Graham
