That garage is coming together nicely, dude!

Hoist, saws, welder and a mini. Plus the all important dilapidated bike gloves ;-)

What more could you need. :proud:

Thanks for the replys fellas

time for an update!!

ok so got out today and had a good day got the rest of the boot floor welded in and cleaned off to a acceptable standard for the boot floor and also cut out the battery box

SAM_1757_zps7c01181b.jpg

need to do a small repair around the battery box but ill get to that when i fit it so started on the largest patch and this time i tried to make it without welding a lip on so bent one in to the panel

SAM_1758_zpse959701b.jpg

SAM_1759_zps0657cd8f.jpg

as you can see in the pictures the only problem is that it makes the panel bend so i had to put a couple of puckers in the lip to strighten it out but it needed to bend the other way to match the boot floor curves so i cut the puckers out and pushed the panel closed to form the bend

SAM_1760_zpsc18d066d.jpg

SAM_1761_zps2ae706f8.jpg

i just need to weld up the bits and to finish off i stipped all the paint off it.  Then i got the rest of the boot floor cleaned back to metal and my handy helper my ten year old son krusted it and then painted the whole floor with zinc 182 whilst i got the patches clamped in

SAM_1763_zps49c5fe1e.jpg

SAM_1764_zps124c116b.jpg

and then for the worst bit of welding i have done so far on the project

SAM_1765_zpseb6cdbac.jpg

SAM_1766_zpseb645df1.jpg

it turns out that i was getting a bad earth and just kept spitting at me but they are in and strong and will be seamed over and stone chipped so its not too bad

as always comments welcome slowly getting there,  Darren

Wow page five in a few days!!

Well time for an update then!
As I'm on nights this week most of my free time is in the small hours when I get back from work so got in with some quiet work painting suspension bits

null_zps3928bbad.jpg

null_zps0319bb8f.jpg

The front arm were in good shape as we're the radius arms with no play so they can be used as is. I wanted to paying the drum red to make my car go faster 😜 but the can of spray hammerite seems to be a dud and the paint stayed wet well over 24hrs so I wiped it off and brush painted it blue also destroyed the bearings in the rear hub trying to reassemble the rad arm for some reason they no longer fit the shaft?

Got off early last night so straight into bed and up reasonably early today and got a couple of hours in the cave. All the patches on the boot are done and welds dressed on the outside so moved on to the battery box and like most of my stuff its non gen and is the worst fitting panel ever imaginable!! It just does not fit the profile of the boot in fact it's not even folded right so I flattened the offending lips out and recent them

null_zps38058eb7.jpg

You can see the line from the original bend and with a few self tappers it fit all be it under tension zinc primed on the mating surfaces all holes drilled just need welding in and cleaning up the inside of the boot

null_zpsef92f970.jpg

Then clamped this into place to see the fit and again non gen so terrible made a little tool for aligning it with the rear panel basically just a piece of steel with a slit in it as I need it best as possible for the debumpering just need to make up some subframe spreaders then it can go on

null_zps11a7bf19.jpg

Another decent finish tonight should see me in there again tomorrow got a couple of little jobs to do on the main floor as well as the valance and battery box then it's stonechip and gloss black I don't see any point going body colour underside as the waxoil will just be black after a few weeks with our weather lol

Thanks for lurking you bunch of perverts!!
Darren

Hate to tell you this dude, but half those bits are brakes. Probably best to learn the parts now though

Looking like a nicely shaped and more importantly solid shell now, nearly engine time!!

Don't work too fast on that though, want to use your car as a jig :P

Check me the f out update two days in a row

Got the battery box all welded in and seam sealed all that needed it on the boot

null_zps121fb88e.jpg

Then finished the last bit on the floor the front if the flitch sill join to match the other side for the smooth go faster look only a welded pic but all cleaned off

null_zpsb4427c8d.jpg

Then gave the boot a coat if zinc primer looking solid now

null_zps5c9435bc.jpg

Next came the subby mount spreaders started with a card template

null_zps6aaed8f1.jpg

As if by magic cut out and slight curve to match the boot floor

null_zps07edc582.jpg

Then redrilled the mount holes in the floor marked and drilled the plates and bolted in just need drilling and welding

null_zpsf49c6c50.jpg

And finally a quick mock up to check for space if the rear trunnion and it looks good

null_zps1242cd66.jpg

That's all for now back on days next week so might get a little done if I get off early

Thanks for looking, Darren

Floor looking very nice Carlos.  Did the same on mine with the sub mount stiffener pieces and did some very dodgy corner welding on the lip around to the qtr panel.  Never did get the hang of good corner welds lol.  Coming on nicely.

See u Wednesday if you are ok for time.

Graham
