That's good news. Keep your eye on everything for a few days though to make sure it continues to perform properly.

Does sound like a new battery would be a good idea for peace of mind over winter. Search around - there are good deals on Lucas Classic (or Premium) batteries. Buy the smallest one you can get........ No point dragging excess weight around with you.

Smallest? I buy based on whatever will fit the battery box, has the posts in the right position, and has the highest CCA rating. Regardless of weight, I want the highest Amp capacity battery I can get.

No need for a wee car like a Mini! I used a M/C battery on my sprint/autocross car - but did use jump leads for cold starts. The smallest car battery has plenty of capacity for a Mini.

I am glad that works for you. However, when I next need a battery I will once again buy the one with the most Amps that will still fit the battery box.
On my father-in-law's Formula-Vee we use a lawn tractor battery. That CAN start the 1200cc flat-four but I have installed an Anderson type quick cable connector so we can use a larger battery to jump start the engine and then quickly disconnect.
