I think we need to get a site just just for phoenix estates and see how many we can track down, afterall since they are GRP thay should all be around somewhere (unless they have been stacked into a tree or somesuch!)

Good to know there are more owners out there, I am not exactly that handy with mechanics and will need all the advice I can get!

Follow this link to see (spookily) some pictures I found of the car I have bought from MITP 1999, looking far healthier than it does now!
If anyone can shed some light on the wheels I would be grateful, I have never seen them before.

Simon I will send you some recent pics on your private email since I don't know how to attach on this site.

well its been a busy bank holiday weekend.
Shes now back on all fours and rolling, doors are off, inside rear panel that houses the amp, fuse holders and battery is cut and ready to cover.
Engine is back on the floor and off its stand, ready to tighten the flywheel nut and get the motor back in.
Wiring loom is now finsihed with all its new connections for the guages etc.
Its coming together finally.

I've been in touch with the department of transport about 3wks ago and asked for this information. Because the Phoenix as a vin number and name on the log book he says it would take approx 12wks before he can let me know so i'm just waiting for the e-mail or a letter now.

I have finally taken delivery of my phoenix and the scale of the project is now dawning on me. Any advice on exactly where to start would be most appreciated since I am in way over my depth!

I also have the original sales broucher if anyone is interested.

when I started mine never having owned a mini before I thought the rear looked easiest. Pulled off the sub frame and all associated bits and rebuilt that with a new frame brakes etc etc.
Pulled all the interior out after the rear was done and then started on the front. I left my wiring till quite late on but now I wish I had installed the loom before fitting all the column brackets and master cylinder servo etc, would have been loads easier.
If you need any advice just give me a shout and I will try and help.
Wiring is a right pain but make sure you have loads of earth points using good size cable, mini's are bad enough for electrical probs without being fibreglass.
Simon

p.s. could you scan the sales brochure if its not too much trouble.

All weekend and monday ive been doing wiring, got all the rear loom pretty much in place and the wiring connectors for the new rear clusters sorted along with the tank wiring.
Took the tank off to renew all the fuel line connectors to mate up with the braided fuel hose and the tank looks pretty bad. Tried wiring brushing it but it feels really thin so im not sure if it will cope with powder coating. looks like maybe a new tank.
The rest of the wiring inside is about finished and hopefully wont set on fire!!
Engine was supposed to be going in aswell but my mate had a load of jobs to do and so his engine crane was busy, next weekend though she will have an engine in.
I will try and get some half decent pics up so you can have a look.

Ok the engine is half way in, just need to remove the drive shafts to get it sat a bit lower and get the shafts hooked up. Its looking ok though (touch wood)
Decided to change the seats as I found some nice Recaro's.
Heres some pics of the motor built up and seats just chucked in with bits of wood holding them roughly in place.
Simon
Hopefully more pics tommorow of the engine in!!!!

not much progress for a while just been sorting out wiring which is really boring and never ending it seems.
Got my petrol tank shot blasted to get powder coated and surprise surprise there was a hole in it under the rust, another exspense I had'nt planned on
Pumped up the tyres as pushing her around with an engine is a lot harder than wthout when the tyres are half flat!
Hopefully get some work doen this weekend but im not sure what yet.
