Im going to be putting in a cage in the next few days and was going to cut out the rear bins to help with fitting the rear cage, is this ok?

It depends on what the regulations for your type of competition demand. Some regulations demand full body interior (e.g. Historic rallying).
It is possible to fit an FIA cage without removing the rear bins.

It is not a good idea to fit a cage for just road use. They are really just for competition where a crash helmet is worn. With a cage you need full harness belts and, ideally, competition seats and that means no rear seats. It would be very unsafe to put passengers into the rear of a Mini with a roll cage.

i trial fitted mine with the bins in and when i got the cage in, i didn't want the mither of trying to get the holes lined up so i cutt them out (oh and to gain more room for my bucket seats to move back)... never looked back!! saves your knuckles too. I bolted the cage down with help from my dad in about 40mins.

me and a friend cutt the bins out the night before... mini's can be so fun to work on ahaha

this is cutting the bins out

and this part 2 remember to wear gloves as the matal can be very sharp and you find out at the end

The bins are structural. We cut mine out, mounted the roll bar and then welded the bins back in.

The competition rules for Minicross (rallycross for Minis) allows the bins to be cut out, but the rules are very specific about the size of spreader plates that must be welded to the floor for the cage to mount on. So I suppose the message is you can cut the bins out, but make sure the cage isn't just bolted through the floor without any spreader plates.

check with your insurance company first, they hate roll cages.

Hilarious vid brad the bear! Yeah prob just guna cut the bins out, surely the fact of adding a cage would negate the fact that the structural bins are out?

Iv fitted a roll cage, seats and harnesses and I cut out the bins, told my insurance company and it made no difference to the policy at all :) so I'd say go for it cut them out
