small up date got given a rover K series exhaust manifold yesterday what will be spot on but slight catch... its of a 1.8 so therefore it has a 40mm bore rather than the 25mm of the engine so a smaller manifold is needed off a 1.4 also got a set of twin 40's coming now and a 6 point cage love student loans!

A new manifold is a must the original micra is so restrictive

i went for the k series aswell, they pop up new on ebay now and then. mine was £17 brand new and £20-odd for a new downpipe.

Webers have arrived! i just thought though got to go from the 25mm size head to a 40mm sized carb so ethier im going to have grind the inlet ports out as big as possible or make a tapered manifold any ideas guys? also decided on using DTA ignition systems so looking good so far full steam ahead!

think you'll need a combination of the two, i opened my ports up a bit but the gasket face gets a bit small

big up date time funny old day
so i got a medium sized double garage and was feed you have large bits lying around so i installed my six point cage i bought and i kept tripping over the sub frame and got feed up of constantly dumping the bonnet and front end outside so i drill holes in the front end and attached it to the car via cable ties (temporarily of course) then i decided to fit my sub frame then decided why not dump the engine in see where we are at, then the KAD what is perfect just clears the top of the rocker cover nice. with the engine in the car made a few observations

1. its F***ing tight
2. the gear linkage is perfect out the bottom
3. front cross member will need modifying to fit the exhaust
4.room for webers is a lot better than i thought! only minor parts of the fire way have to be cut out il weld in a two joined together battery boxes

there's a few other bits and pieces to think about to need to sort out my engine mounts and make my manifolds but very pleased with progress so far

Do you not want box in your bulkhead so you can get some decent filters on the webers. Or even some sort of ram air

the webers ere only placed there for refferance the plan is to cut away the bulk head and weld in a box i refuse to run no airfilters after reading mr vizzards book on the A series engine scary amount of grit can go though in such a short space of time! so il run K&N's and where the fresh air vents are i want to run pipeing from them behind the dash and feed it into the air box what will be inclosed webers spittinng fuel and flames on the back of a wooden dash no thanks!
